Hello All,
I am in Canada and will be going to Spa for a two-day track event. I have a few questions:
1) Is Spa demanding on brakes? Just wondering if I should get a regular rental car at the airport instead of renting a track car from one of the shops.
2) Any hotels nearby that some of you can recommend?
3) If I decide to go with a track car rental, where is a good place to rent one?
I am a very experience driver, been doing this for a long time, but never on the European side.
Thanks in advance.
Joe

Hi, I don't think you are asking these questions in the right place, but I will poijt you in the right direction.
You already know Spa is the best circuit the world has to offer. It is hard on brakes, at the end of the long Kemmel straight and into the Bus Stop. You are wasting your time driving that circuit in a hire car, road pads will have faded away within a lap.
For circuit information, I would look at the Lotus on Track website, that has specific pages on accomodation etc. In brief, there are hotels close to the circuit, but the tend to be expensive and the village has little to offer.
As for car hire, I would contact the TDO. If you are using BaT, one of their Caterhams would be an excellent option.

You know spa is less than 2 hours drive from the Nurburgring. There may be an evening public session you can do. It would seem a pity to travel so far and not take in both, even if it was to just see the ring rather than drive it. The countryside is beautiful and the local roads are fantastic.
Still lovin' the VX. For the money, I struggle to think of a car that delivers so much performance, tactility and fun.
