Using the same Fiat Punto Mk1 Heater Radiator (Valeo) #812081 | £26.00
+ Some Aluminium Sheet (ebay) | £5.00 + 16mm Coolant Hose + Silicone Sealent + Rivets + Rivet Gun + PC Fan Grill, used as a filter, placed before it enters the heater box.
Using this method you lose the use of the hot/cold dial. This can be sorted by installing the VW Type 25 Heater Valve, T-Pieces and some more hose.
Briefly tested but not installed When connected the valve, cable and dial work fine together. Considering the stiffness of the hose when connected I don't think the heater valve needs to be secured. I believe the bypass should work but it is tricky fitting the extra lengths of hose in such a confined space.
In the end I didn't use the heater valve.
Very pleased with the install, it works extremely well with plenty of heat coming through. You can now drive in a t-shirt rather than thermals.
