Hanging around this forum for almost a year now, met a lot of nice people and some major petrolheads so... Just curious to know if you guys are lucky enough to have a friend (or group of friends), family, etc, which are as crazy about cars as you? Someone to share the passion with. In my case, I have good mates, but unfortunately nobody is into cars so my passion is a self-pursuit of happiness. Everybody looks sideway when I make someone pop-quiz me on some classical car mag or when I start talking about that fabulous aluminium chassis. They usually go  Please share your experiences :P

Well, my wife is fairly car knowledgable after being with me for years. But she knew what she was taking on! :D

I was surprised at first when I discovered that I knew more than several of the auto journalists I read, but I'm used to it know...

That reminds me of the latest boo-boo, in Top Gear December 2005. Talking of forgotten Jap supercars, they refer to my 300ZXTT as being "mid-engined which makes wet roads interesting." It was styled to look mid-engined – that bonnet is the most jam-packed I've ever seen, but you would have thought they would check their facts for such a mag – and how many people read it before they print it?

I have mates who are into tracking cars and are informed on tuning, or some who just appreciate fast cars and driving them and some who are into the engineering, design, craftmanship or cars as modern history aspects. Some people are into car models or radio-controlled racing or PlayStation car games, or karting or even just dodgems! Some are into several aspects, but I've never met anyone who was "across the board" obsessed as me – though there are obviously a couple more on here

:poke:

My friends and colleagues now know not to mention anything to do with cars or gliding. You see their faces drop when I suddenly launch in to a Torque vs Power debate or describe the exact installation procedure for the front brake pads on a VX220

 Glad i'm not the only one then who seems to get carried away with themselves when the subject is mentioned. I do have one mate who is probably just as much a petrolhead as me. Quite often go out for a blast with him :D

Most of my mates are petrolheads. Lucky for me really. Quite a few are into the modding area of saxo, festers etc but have a few who have more money and sense to buy a proper car like the VX. Most of the guys i work with are petrolhead and spend big money on their motors. so its :groupjump: when it comes to cars!

I'd say a good few of my mates are into cars, most of them have a race or rally background the others are more footy/rugby then cars thumbsup But i can say, hand on heart that they are all into road/offroad bikes.. We all got them, even the Girls thumbsup But, come to think about it  none of us talk about them  We just buy and ride 'em ;) thumbsup

lol at above!! My missus is into cars, but haven't got many friends outside of car clubs that are petrol heads, which is a shame, but hey, can't have it all. I do like it though when people who think they know a lot about cars start gassing about their motors, only to be corrected or shot down by my good self - I do enjoy that!!! e.g I reckon my mr2 roadster will do 0-60 in 6 secs... hmmmm, doubt that mate :9mm:

The other day I dragged a friend of mine to all the way to a dealership overhere which has got a VX na (Speedster) on display, just to show it to him. I haven't got mine yet see, so there I was all excited, saying "look how fabulous it looks, it's got one of the greatest chassis ever! Plus no PAS, rwd and mid-engined, it's really the purest form of driving pleasure". Then he goes "How much does it do?" I go "Err, about 220 kph..." he goes "doesn't the Astra TDI do that also" ... One last smile to the car and off we go to the pub! I play music, in that area I do have a friend or two to share the passion, but cars, no siree. And there's a great difference from those people who say oh, i like cars! to people who REALLY like cars. You all know waht I mean I'm sure ;)

Same here! Workmates all Heathens as far as I am concerned.
At least my next door neighbour is 'da man'. He has a Lexus GS430 (OK not everyone is perfect), a new VXR Astra (when he gets it) and a Celica GT4 (one of 500 homologation specials) which is just about to have every HKS bit known to man attached to give him around 500+ BHP!
Also got lots of other mates with tasty cars including F40, 360CS, 550 Maranello, Koenigsegg CCR, Atom etc etc. Hate them all of course ;) ;)

Don't hate them! Friends are the most precious thing in the world! Do they let you ride on that tasty machinery you mentioned? :D

One of my friends has got a MGF, that's about as impressive as it goes (not very impressive), all downhill from there

Have been in the Atom, 550M and recently a McMerc SLR at Goodwood. Sat in the Koenigsegg (both of his) but been in his Diablo, Countach but not the F40 :D
