The VXR site claims the tyres for a VXR are 195/50 R 16 and 225/45 R17. It comes with Yokohama A048 tyres, but what are the other options? What can be used as a more regular road tyre? I was going to post the stuff below in a different thread but I've started a new one so we can keep this discussion specific:

Goodyear Eagle F1s always get better reviews.

I dont think these are made in the VX size for the front

Just checked the Goodyear site and indeed they don't make the 195/50 R 16 for the VXR wheels. Toyo do, but only with a load/speed rating of 84V - fine for the NA :), but not enough for the turbo which needs W?

...unless those peeps who are going to fit Toyo's to their actual VXR wheels know different?

Have just found that if the >Exige is getting special W-rated A048 tyres< then i guess these will be what can be bought for the VXR wheels too. I can't find ANY tyres with more than a V in 195/50 R 16.

Ben

P.S.Just out of interest, Toyo do a new >R888:(

Toyo do a 205/45 16 87W RF Not sure if this will be able to be used without fowling the body. Also this size may cause tram lining. The new 888's are going to be produced in different sizes around now but not sure what they are. I'll try emailing Toyo to find out.

I wonder what an insurance company would make of someone running V rated tyres on a VXR which is meant to have Ws in the event of a high speed blowout.... Ben

Ouch. I keep trying to talk myself into 048s but I drive the car to much everyday to risk running into heavy rain.

I really need to know what to get for road tyres - I'm going to buy 2 sets of vxr wheels so I can keep the 048s for track. I'm really confused about what's available.

I have now been told (from Vauxhall but this is not official endorsement) that the Yoko A539 is the tyre to get for wet weather use but on the site they have the correct size and rating for rears but not for fronts. Which is the closest, and will it work? Someone who understands tyres please help!
