How do you remove the lower FRONT wishbone connected to the hub?

I mean, I have removed the nut from where the hub is connected to the lower wishbone, but it wont come off, is there anything else?
Is there anything in the TIS?

And how do I remove the steeringarm that connected to the upper wishbone extension? It's the same with that one. wont come off.

Hi, Havn't removed any of the suspension componets yet, but after a quick look at the simple arragement I would suggest : The lower wishbone to hub carrier ball joint can be removed by as you said by unscrewing the nyloc nut. The lower ball joint should have a tapered fit up into the hub carrier. You will need a screw type 'expanding wedge' ball joint separator. Thes can be bought from Halfords and Laser tools generally have them in their range. If you want to go for the top line tools try Britool. Alternatively you could try using a two legged puller, However I would expect that ther would be trouble in clearances when using this type of tool. If using a 'wedge' it needs to be fitted inbetween the hub carrier and the lower ball joint and then opened so that pressure is applied to overcome the frictional forces holding the taper in place, and generally these are LARGE ! I nearly always find that a blow from a heavy lump hammer, downwards on the exposed part of the ball joint thread is required to release the taper, while it is under tension from the wedge. But before you do this get an old nut, screw it onto the threads of the ball joint, and use a suitable punch, so as not to damage the ball joint thread, when you hit it. Sometimes you can be lucky and the wedge will release the taper on its own. The same method can be used to release the ball joint from the steering rack to hub attachment. of course here the ball joint releases upwards and is porbably a little easier to work on. There are non screw type wedges which are designed to be hammered between the ball joints, but I would not recommend these for use on our cars. Hope that this helps, just have it in mind that some times you have to get rough with these joints as corrosion can cause extra releasing problems. If you intend going further the lower ball joints are an interference fit into the wishbones and need to be pressed out with an hydraulic press. Dave K

Hi Turbo, You'll need to make sure that the castor shims go back in the same place that they come from. These are on the in-board pivots, and are like washers that are either side of the joints, on the bolt that goes through the joint. I think they are on the lower wishbone, but it might be the upper one. :P Use a spirit-level to measure the caster-angle (the backwards lean) on the good side, and ensure that the new wishbone is set the same. Hold the spirit-level vertical against the lower ball-joint, and then measure the gap between the level and the upper ball-joint. This will give a relative measurement of the caster angle. Steve

Ah, right! I guess "spirit-level" doesn't translate too well into your language! It's that stick-thing with a bubble in it. Where are you from? It's Scandinavia somewhere isn't it? Steve

I have replaced my NSF lower wishbone. Have you undone the bolts connecting it to the anti roll bar? If you have, you need to loosen the nut, get the nut level with the top of the thread and give it a sharp tap with a hammer and it will drop down.
