Hi all, Completed my s/c build tonight!!! Last connection to make was the map sensor. I didn't order a new map sensor from Courtenays because for some reason I thought I had one, Am I right in thinking you use the one from the top of the s/c snout and simply bolt it into the manifold? That sensor came already fitted to my s/c and it fits the 3-pin plug. The sensor that came bolted in my manifold is a 4-pin sensor so it can't be connected. Just checked Courtenays site and the sensor looks identical from the picture with the orange rubber grommit on it. I havent got a clue where Ive read this or am I imagining it? Liams meant to be mapping it for me tomorrow and I will look rather stupid if I havent got the right sensor in! All help appreciated chaps, could do with an answer asap so I can let Liam know if were good to map in the morning!

This sensor fits the exact looks but could be 100's out there that look the same with a 3 pin plug and orange grommet!

Its got to be Vauxhall surely?

or maybe a GM car from the states but I'm hopeing its a vauxhall one from over here!

Can it be any 2 bar sensor that fits the plug off a Vauxhall?

I doubt it. Nobody seems to know where that 2bar one is coming from. Would suggest to create a "NEED TO BORROW AN SC MAP SENSOR ASAP" topic in general, to see if anybody between you and MMG can pull it off his car, that's probably tucked up for the winter. No idea if the car is drivable with the 1bar.

Ive just read a thread from you smiley when you once asked where this sensor came from. vocky replied saying he thought it was from the 1.7 cdti which would be the same as i found on ebay. very tempted to go and buy one tomorrow now, wonder if it will be completely wrong and a waste of time and money haha

You need to source a Denso 16235939 2 bar MAP sensor. The 1.7 DTI could be the right one.

On the way to the nearest breakers, they are very simple men on the phone, apparantly telling them a 1.7 cdti from a list of cars is not even info!! After 3 hours of research last night, it looks like there's only one sensor that has clips on both sides and that's the one I need. If this fails then Lee I shall be pestering you to look in that garage of yours!

I can now happily report...... The sensor 16235939 is fitted to the Y17DT and the Y17DTL engines. Fitted to corsa, combo, meriva and possibly one type of astra. Ranging from 64-74 bhp models. Main dealer - £63-60 inc. Local breakers yard - £10 ! (choice of 5) now nobody will need to ask this question again lol! Hope my car starts later today! Thanks for the help people.

You will need to mod it a bit, as it is not a direct fit. (Thicken the grommet and fab a bracket) We expect a nice linear graph later today!

top tip I was told....by Joe :P remove the orange seal, put a few layers of insulation tape onto the map sensor and then refit the orange seal. This makes the seal nice and tight.

Eaugh!

I made a press fit top hat to adjust the hole in the manifold.

also you can use the map sensor bracket from on top of the sc for the inlet manifold sensor, just needs a little modifying, as does the new map sensor - you need to trim off one side of the plastic 'bracket clips'

Wish I would of read this earlier, been hard at work finishing a few things off, Map sensor got wrapped in insulation tape then the orange grommet put back on, and I used the bracket from the top s/c map sensor. Discovered the bolt hole didnt line up perfect so I snipped the clips off the r/h/s of the map sensor then bent the bracket to fit. Took me a lot longer than it would have if I would of just read this thread! Happy its done though, took me all day to tidy things up so its not mapped yet. Tomorrow is the day. Hopeing for a dry day!
