WHEELS Right, done a bit of digging and this is the official status. Affected cars are in a range (which I've not got yet) but anyone affected will receive a letter from Vauxhall. What you need to do is take that letter to your dealer and they will swap the wheels over for you (best to make an appointment first so they can get the wheels in stock). However, to save yourself a trip (assuming you dont get the letter) you can check for yourself. All the wheels recalled are those that have NOT been heat treated so waht your looking for is a wheel without 'HT' stamped on the inner spoke. If it says 'HT' on it then its fine. Basically remove your rear wheel, look inside the spokes and you'll see some numbers. If it says HT - you're fine if it doesn't and the wheel says 7.5J x 17 then you ARE affected and you'll need to swap them. Might be best to wait for the letters but we can check for you by your chassis or reg number. Replacement can be done while you wait. BRAKE SERVO HOSE This is not considered a safety recall but is still important to get it done. We all know of the issue but now Vauxhall have decided to officially sort it, its basically where the servo hose splits at the end, Vauxhall have deiced to replace. Again, we need to check via VIN number or registration but ocvers all cars from 2001-2003, check your hose, if it looks fooked then its probably covered. Again you will receive a letter so might be best to wait for that but any dealer can do this but you're best to quote all the above. It takes about and hour and a half so can be done while you wait or done in a half day.

Haven't checked mine yet but if it does need doing will VXL give the value of the wheels instead so they could be changed for 16/17's?

Does the recall require that the hose is completely replaced regardless of condition?

Jon, does it only apply to rear wheels? Turbo wheels? I have a set of NA wheels in the garden that I'm refurbishing, only one wheel (a rear) has "HT" embossed on the rear...

Thorney, thanks for clearing it all up! - do you know what the availability of stocks (or lead time :o ) is on the wheels?!? And maybe even the vacuum hose if they suddenly get hundreds of orders :)

John,
I'll send you a PM thumbsup

Rich

Oh god please dont do that :P

If anyone wants to get their car booked in its best to give us a ring (we're booking into mid August now I'm afraid) or drop me an email with all your details (john@thorneymotorsport.co.uk) If it takes a couple of days for me to reply dont worry, my email box is a bit full right now but I do reply to every one, PM@s can be diccufult to keep on top of.

Give us a day to sort the VIN nos for those cars affected and we'll be sorted.

Just booked in with John as I wouldn't trust local Vax stealer, who when last serviced car (5 weeks ago) said split hose is not an issue and they simply cut 1 inch off the end that had started to split and put a zip tie on it :beat: Top drawer once again to John and TMS Imnotworthy who sound like they are going to be busier than ever :tt:

Yes.

So how does cutting off each end replace the rest of the hose?????

I've just checked my set of Turbo wheels in the loft, all of them say "H.T." on them.

The problem is, I'm refurbing my NA ones so if I get one replaced, it's not going to match the rest of them...

That's the stamp you're looking for, it doesn't appear to make any difference to the "7.5xJ" bit, that's on another spoke altogether.

Vauxhall recalls haven't been briefed on it yet so can't give out any information until the end of the week at the earliest.
