Just rang for a progress report, they acknowledge that this is the 1st one they have doing...... We havent had time to get it into the workshop yet!!!! :beat: We will look at it tomorrow  So whats the point in me bringing it in for today???? knew this was a really bad idea and i should have sat in the dealership and waited even if it was for several hours. thumbsdown Well my 1st expierence of vauxhall is not a good one..... rant

Least you've got one to take to the dealers mate, instead of me who has to press his face up against the glass a peer inside to view one

Glad you posted this, I was just about to book mine in! Think I might wait a while before I do now. :P Would appreciate if you could let me know how they were when you get your baby back p.s. has anyone used Grasmere in Crewe or Lookers in Chester for the vacuum hose repair? They're the only other vx authorised place near me, and I don't fancy being a guinea pig! p.p.s don't wait for grimshaws to ring you and let you know whats going on. The car will be sat there waiting and they won't bother to ring you

So ive told her that ive a trackday booked so it better be ready. lol. (in nicer terms of course) Marcus one will turn up soon enough. Btw, convict eccles are only accepting one a week and they are booked up for the next 3weeks i had the choice of week1 and or week4.

I expected so. I rang them immediately after the first post on the forum (after speaking to vaux recall) and was reassured they would contact me as soon as they got all the information back from vauxhall.

Still waiting for that phone call :beat:

They also said at the time they hadn't heard from anyone else about this problem

10 mins can turn into ten hours with all the coffee breaks which are needed!

I think this is the type of thing that gets people so pissed off with dealers. In an earlier thread, Raz was saying not to tar all vauxhall dealers with the same brush, that some are good and some aren't.

Unfortunately, I've been disappointed with them on the majority of times I've used them. I've no real issue with the quality of work (although I've had a REALLY irritating rattle since Grimshaws changed my engine mounts) but its more the lack of customer service.

It doesn't take much to be pleasant and helpful on the phone, to ring back when you're meant to, assist the customer etc, but very few dealers seem to realise this. One of the only things I regret about buying the VX 3 years ago is that it meant I could no longer use my local mazda garage.

They were fabulous - always courteous & helpful, always rang when they said they would, let me go out in test drives in whatever car I fancied alone whilst I was waiting (even though they knew I had no interest in buying), loaned me the managing directors car when I'd forgot to book a courtesey car. God, they even made me a bacon sandwich when I dropped the car off after a nightshift! :D

Considering that vaux charge much more per hour, I was expecting customer service at least approaching that of mazda. Instead all I get is a surly mechanic who won't speak to customers and a reception girl who doesn't seem to understand that someone may need their car to get home at night, so would like to know if its ready.

rant And relax........... ;)

No, the above mentioned grimshaws (I work in Eccles) Though I'm sure the story could be repeated for the majority of dealers just by changing the name :beat:

I've booked the vxr in for some warranty work (stuck seat-belt, etc) with Vauxhalls at Ormskirk. Believe they are pretty good.... Will let you know how we get on there. Might be worth you trying them in the future? :)

Yeah I believe so. Pete who organises the Wiggin Tree meet bought his vx from there when it was brand new and he told me, I wouldnt of known otherwise. He said they are pretty good. I rang St.Helens and Wigan to see if they would touch it (knew they werent vx dealers but thought worth a try as I didnt want to travel to Manchester, chester, colwyn Bay etc) but they said they couldnt. Pete then mentioned Ormskirk and I was made up. thumbsup

Right im really pissed off so if this does make sense forgive me...... I book the car in tell them they can have it for two days, no real rush. Take it down wednesday night. So they start work on the car at 1pm friday??? How does that figure.... they now want the locking wheel nut, which i really cant see the need for.... so I say, its not going to be ready for today is it, even though i told them i wanted it for the w.e. She (stupid arrogant bitch) says well you said "no rush" So then the mechanic nothing to do with me, starts going on about locking wheel nuts... what if you have a blowout etc... I said whell it doesnt have a spare.. thats why have premium RAC cover. He says but its not safe to drive round without it because you cant remove the wheel. I dont even have any tools in the car to remove it even if i was inclined toi???? I explained that i understood that it was the 1st one they are doing but to sit on it for 1 and 1/2 days takes the p*ss.... they have been "very busy" wouldnt have even minded if it over ran and they had spent the last few hrs working on it. She doesnt understand why i am annoyed and even states partway through the convo that im being un reasonable.... At the end of our public debate (no service mgr, no dealer principle present. surprise surprise) When would i like to book it in again????? Apprently my wheels say HT on them, which i certianly couldnt see.... Im sure they say PT but i will check again. Seriously guys, the grease monkey who is 'qualified' to work on the VXs at the dealership is one of the thickest techs i have ever come across.... Safe to say I will never be paying grimshaws a visit again.. so some unfortunate VX owner will be their guinea pig.
