Courtenay Supercharger Conversion

The car was booked in for 10 April and was ready for collection on 20 April. Unfortunately because of Easter and the crap weather I was unable to collect the car until last Wednesday.
As well as the SC I had quite a bit of tidying up and other odds done:
• Enhanced charge-cooler with larger header tank in the boot
• Lightened flywheel
• Uprated clutch
• High performance alloy radiator
• Cool run thermostat
• Catch tank for gearbox and engine breathers
• New radiator header tank
• Engine mounts checked and rear mount upgraded
• A couple of Revotec gauges and a Shift-i change-up light
• 10.9 hub bolts and anti-rattle door pins
• Full 5 year service to include plugs and all fluids
I also ditched the Viper induction in favour of a Jetex cone which I think is OEM with the supercharger. The Viper will be appearing on ebay soon with the old alloy rad if anyone wants to help defray my costs!
With the car stripped down, Courtenay were able to give the car a thorough check over and tidied up a load of niggles following accident repairs last year courtesy of “UK's only waranty (sic) approved Vauxhall tuning company†including missing bolts, bushes and various other crappery. When I went to collect the car it was immaculate and cleaner than it’s been in a long while.
First impressions. Fortunately NickB777 had let me drive his car a couple of weeks ago so I knew what to expect. The drive home was thus uneventful but certainly exciting and as the sun popped out around Snetterton and the roads were dry I was able to put my foot down … a bit. Below around 3k the car sounds and drives pretty much the same as a standard NA. Above this and the acceleration and accompanying shriek over the left shoulder is amazing whilst the delivery remains completely predictable. The push back into the seat is immediate as are the words “oh fcuk†which tend to rise in the throat. I fear this could be an easy and addictive way to points on my licence! The Jetex cone is quieter than the Viper which is generally a good thing but I do miss a bit of the burble. I really cannot wait to get out on track asap. Subsequent B road drives around the legal limit are a lot smoother, quieter and surprisingly seem more comofortable than before.
Oh yes, and did I say 250.1 bhp @ 6390 and 230.7 @ 4263? I am not sure why the results are so good, could just be that these engines are just different and I got a few extra horses (mine has only done about 28000 miles), could be the TMS stage 2+ map on the main ECU with the higher rev limit, could be the Jetex induction.
Finally, It is impossible to fault the commitment, professionalism and attention to detail from the guys at Courtenay, so thanks to Jon, Mark and Mark. Well worth the trip there. Get in line!!
PS. For the nay-sayers who think this is too much to spend on the car or that you shouldn’t pay money to “tunersâ€, save your breath because I really couldn’t give a flying *%$+!

Too early for me to comment on the fuel economy, it's not obviously worse and I think this is others experience. On insurance I had to pay an additional £94 which I think is for the remaining 4-5 months of the policy.Whats the fuel economy like? the reason I ask is that we have a supercharged Cooper S and the fuel economy is shocking!!
Also whats the insurance like?

The install is incredibly neat and very unobtrusive and just looks as though it's meant to be there. That conversion truly does look factory designed to fit within the VX engine bay.
Hope you get the engine cover sorted although, I think this may just be subtle advertising on Courtenay's part. Each time it pops open, you have to pull over, have a quick look and close the cover again and you can never tell who else might see it at the same time.
I thought I was cracking up and kept forgetting to close the lid!
PaulCP has now enlightened me how to adjust the locking pin! Hopefully I can sort it tomorrow.
