Just had the horrible T1Rs on my VXR replaced with A039s since I couldn't find a definative answer beforehand I weighed them for posterity and anyone interested the answers, they are as below Brand New Front A039 195/45/16 8Kg Brand New rear A039 225/45/17 9Kg T1Rs in the same sizes with 3mm tread left front 7Kg rear 9Kg extrapolated weight of speedlines wheels by weighing them with A039s and subtracting the standalone A039 Weight front 11Kg rear 12Kg

hideously expensive so I hope they wear well they are LTS specific ones and I got them for cost as someone owed me a favour  so far they are way quieter than then the Toyos and seem to inspire way more confidence with less understeer need to play with the pressures a little though as I think stock VXR listed pressures may be a little high

Expect A048 type wear. Depending on driving style between 5 to 8000 miles for a set usually.

A039's are basically 'wet track tyres' and not really road tyres, so optimised for handling/grip and not wear.

Bye, Arno.

I ran on A039's all last year and they were fantastic tyres. Mine lasted 4500 rear, the fronts are in the shed at the moment with a few thousand miles still left in them I reckon. This mileage included mainly road but about 5 track days as well. I ran them on 24 fr 26 rear on an NA. Martin s

where did you get them? They cost twice as much as r888 - literally!

Any tips or a group buy maybe?

wrightster.. my r888's have lasted approx 8k miles i think? including a walshy day with LOTS of spins, and a full day at cadwell open pit lane. the inside on the fronts is starting to get low and the rears are getting close to needing changed (i have spares already for rear just not fitting them till i need to)

I got my A039's from Brooke Kensington Lotus. Replaced them with Kumhos ku31's for the winter, but they have turned out to be good enough on track and road, that I may not be buying A039's again, especially as the Kumhos cost £250 a set! Martin s

I was toying with buying the R888's as my rears needed replacing. After 10 track days I've decided to stick with the A048 LTS's as I am now used to them with my car's setup. I think they are quite literally astonishing on track when run at the correct temps & pressures. Today at Castle Coombe it started to rain briefly so I swapped my tyres with my spare set of TD 1.2's with T1-R's. After a really lifeless (& slow) session with them, I increased the tyre pressures considerably and they were transformed, once I got plenty of heat into them. Definitely not in the same league as the Yoko's, but still damn, damn impressive. Personally, I think the key thing to most mainstream brands of tyres is to get the pressures & temperatures right.

i must be doing something wrong...... i run 24 at the front 26 on the rear my last set of R888's have lasted me 3 weeks including 2K miles and a walshy day. i have a geo from blink motorsport all shimms bar the abs sensor bracket and 2.4mm of toe in on each side. i have it checked 2 days ago on a laser jig and teh toe settings are still correct. the only thing that i can think of is the fact that all my driving is through the welsh hills.

since several people pmed me about these I figured an update is in order since fitting they have been run at stock VXR pressures, I've yet to experiment to see if lower is any better. I've covered approx 1000 miles some in the dry, some in the wet. they don't have the ultimate grip of the A048 (no surprise there then) but do they do give you a huge amount of feedback as to when they are nearing the limit. gut feel is they aren't quite as good as the elise S1 Neovas but then as they don't come in compatable sizes I can't do a lot about that. They are however 1000 times more confidence inspiring than the T1Rs on previously allowing pretty decent cornering speeds even on wet greasy roads, without having to resort to trail breaking to tuck the nose in, understeer has reduced a huge amount and when it start to arrive at least I now get some warning at the moment no major signs of wear but thats one to keep an eye on after leman and a couple of trackdays (if they last that long)
