In Memoriam chris_vx220turbo

On 2nd August 2008, one of our own lost his life at the age of 23. chris_vx220turbo died in an accident, whilst driving his Colmar Blue VX220 Turbo. A female passenger is seriously ill in hospital. More information can be found here.

In memory of Chris, the VX community would like to send some flowers to his family, and donate to a charitable cause nominated by them.

Dear all,

Chris' family and friends have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital as the benefactor of gifts you would like to make in memory of Chris.

Please give what you can - nothing is too small - on Chris' Just Giving page.

I think it best not to make this a sticky (unless it is advised otherwise), since people don't read them - and not everyone uses the 'View New Posts' functionality. Instead, please can you all help to keep this thread bumped and at the top of the forum.

I will also put the link on SELOC, since people there were keen to show their respects also.

Hx

One of these three as the floral tribute? Thoughts please:

Traditional, with blue for the car:
http://www.flowersdi...uk/FN11/fn.html

More modern and young, pure white:
http://www.flowersdi...uk/FN10/fn.html

Contemporary, different, bright and young, with blue for the car:
http://www.flowersdi...uk/FN45/fn.html

With a card:
'In memory of chris_vx220turbo - we mourn the loss of one of our own.
Your fellow VX'ers at VX220.org.uk x'

Once one of the arrangements has been chosen, I will post up further details.

I will also make attempts to ascertain a charity which Chris' family would like donations to go to, and will set up a Just Giving page and post details up once finalised.

I liked the idea of blue for the car, but the second is my favourite choice too :) Any more opinions?

they're all lovely, but the 2nd one is the nicest i think. I think the wording is appropriate too YoB, thanks for sorting it out for us.

YorB, many thanks for doing this. Would it be possible to set up a JustGiving page like the one for Gareth Newark: http://www.justgiving.com/vx220gnewark

Hi there - as above, this is the intention :) I am just waiting for Chris' friend Zoe to reply to my PM with a suggestion as to a charity close to Chris' heart. Once I have heard back, I will set up the page and post a link on here :)

Option 1 or 2 for me and card wording is just fine. Let us all know when we can donate to the nominated cause. I've only just joined the 220 fray but feel some loss; even though I never met him in person

Option 1... could you not add voting buttons? Well done for taking the lead on this, as has said by many.. I never met Chris but have a daughter close to his age and I cannot imagine the pain his family are feeling at the moment. My sincere condolences to them and my thoughts with anyone else affected by this tragic accident. Jeff

we did something similar for a friend who died in one of my old clubs we had teh flowers done in orange and black as they were the colours of his car I prefer option 2 but if you give them a call they can probably get a good colour match to his car if that helps
