you will find that the mount also comes off, it is just a bit of plastic that attaches to the screen, with a mount that slides on to it, and then this houses the ball joint. just get somehting under it and bang it gently towards the roof. then no worries of breakign the screen. and yes, lube may help, always lube yourself up first...
