my vx turbo has water in the boot can anyone tell me why

When I wash mine on a sloping drive water collects around the boot area and seeps in.

I think its coming in from being washed up from the road, i have found 4 x hole bolts on r/h/side of boot, think they might have previously been used for amp? Unless anyone knows any better.
