Yes, its above the accelerator pedal. You will see a red plastic bit.1. Where is the connector? Is it in the footwell above the accel pedal (guess)?
Pull the red plastic clip out [this will unlock the sensor connection]
Then pull the connection off the sensor.
Get some cotton wool buds and dip them in something that will clean up the copper connections. Make sure that the connections are all straight on the male end. Make sure all the female connections are pushed in tight [I used a Stanley blade to push them together a bit]
Push the connections together nice and tight - push the red clip in tight.
Then:
Open your fuse box, in front services compartment [under bonnet lid] passengers side.2. How do you reset the ECU?
Pull out fuse 8 - and leave for about 20 mins. Replace and test
The chances are that the connections are a bit loose @ the accelerator sensor end. Taking it to a dealer will mean that they will automatically order either an ECU or Accelerator Sensor costing you some £££ if your out of warranty - when all you need is to re-establish the connections.
If the above doesnt work:-
There is another connection bus that you may want to take apart - clean - and sort out the connections. This is located in the passengers side rear clam, not far from where the side air vent is.
You will need to take your wheel off and pull out the arch liner.
I didnt have to do this as the accelerator sensor connections were at fault.
Good luck and post up here your findings.
BTW - since I found out how much an ECU costs [around £900] I fitted the BadAss engine cover to protect it from water ingress - the main cause of ECU failure.
See some usefull how to's >HERE<
EDIT: - Ive also added this to the Useful Thread Sticky as it seems this is a widespread issue.
