Err... Why would you ask that?

These fuses are not connected to the the cigarette lighter circuit surely?

Yep, one of those 20-amp fuses is for the cigarette lighter socket.

Well last winter Dec 2009 I was using one of those ceramic plug in fan heaters (200W?), but it was mainly useless.

This winter Dec 2010 I switched to a plug in 50W heated seat cover. Bloody marvellous!

Update: I had the hair dryer (not mine obviously) :P on the relay sockets, fuse block and the loom for a long time to thoroughly dry them out. To clean the relay sockets and fuse sockets, I used a new spade connector and cross hatched it with a stanley knife. I then inserted it into the sockets and moved it in and out and sideways repeatedly to clean the socket inserts. I had to clean the spade connector and re-cross hatch it on a number of occasions, as the crap coming off the socket inserts was significant. I replaced all the fuses (2 x 7.5A and 2 x 20A) and for good measure I replaced the battery (Halfords Calcium 440 for £75 reduced to £44 as I know someone who works there thumbsup ). Battery change was not as traumatic as I had expected, but there was 2 of us, and the new battery had a handle on it. With much trepidation, I turned the ignition on, then whilst breathing a sigh of resignation, I pressed the button. Button pressed. Engine fires up! No EML light! Yippee!!! :groupjump: I left the car running, got out, and did a victory dance up and down the drive for a full 5 minutes (no kidding!) I then turned the ignition off, and with crossed fingers, tried again. It started first time! So I put it all back together, i.e., relays back in place, relay cover on, CL battery cover back on (idiot  ), wheel arch liner back on (feckin thing  ), and took it for a drive. Smile firmly back in place! :) I had intended to replace the spark plugs, and bought some iridiums, but couldn't get the old ones out, and bottled the amount of torque I was applying in fear of rounding the old plugs off, or cracking something. That's one do be done in the very near future during routine servicing by RASP (Grimsby). I washed the car and looked for leaks in the boot. Found a small leak from the top left weld between the engine bay and the boot, so I silicon sealed that either side of the weld. Hopefully this should keep the boot/relays dry. Took the car for a drive, and all was well, apart from a slight hesitancy under load, i.e., 4th gear 1500rpm foot down, felt like I had air in the fuel. So I drove it about all weekend hoping that everything would thoroughly dry out, and occasionally pushing the fuel rail bleed valve (no air apparent). Hesistancy persisted, so on a hunch, I swapped DARCINI's coil pack back in, and the hesitancy disappeared. So I took the rubber covers off my coilpack and cleaned the ends of the spring contacts up with emery paper, then stretched the springs a bit to apply more pressure on the spark plug tips. Refitted. No more hesitancy. Jobs a good 'un. thumbsup Took DARCINI's coilpack back over to Macclesfield and had a good look round his 300+ bhp beast (Can't remember the exact figure). He's got some excellent body modifications in line for the National. Very impressive!! So, the problem was excessive moisture in the boot, which caused the fuel pump relay fuses to short out. This effectively robbed the fuel pump of full power, which caused the fuel system to be under pressurised. This meant that the engine had insufficient fuel to start. The solution was a simple dry out, and fuse replacement. Big thanks to Mr. DARCINI for very kindly lending me his coil pack. Imnotworthy Imnotworthy And thanks to everyone on the forums for their invaluable input and advice. chinky chinky It's what makes this community so great. :grouphug: I'm off for a drive.......
