injector or injector wiring

We're convinced it's electrical so Lee's going to make up a new loom. Also going to rule out fueling by fitting a swirl pot (anyone have a link to any swirl pot parts..?).

As an extra note, some guys on the pitwall who knew of our issue reported back that when this fault hapenned a 2 foot flame flew out of the exhaust! Kinda rules out fuelling but I need a swirl pot none the less.

Must say was well impressed by the whole operation, well done guys Imnotworthy and hope you track the problem down soon Jimmy. Great to see the team and meet Chris, Luke and Mark (5oc). I was only there for Sunday (thanks for the ticket techie) and did bugger all but was knackered when I got back. After all the hours he put in I have no idea how the hell Joe then went and did a night shift Imnotworthy Imnotworthy

This is eactly the same as what mine was doing on three track days before the engine expired, not only that but it did it at exactly the same two parts of the track at Brands. I now have a GM factory recon fitted with new injectors too. I'm at Spa on Wednesday and its the first outing since the engine swap, I shall let you know on Wednesday evening what happens!!

just got of the phone with jon at cms and he reckons its valve springs possibly dying so probably best to change to 78lb supertechs and change the hydraulic lifts as they are cheap and easy enough to do chinky chinky

Sounds like it was a weekend to remember! I hope the next one is less frantic! I was really hoping to make it there on Saturday, but had to change my plans at the last minute. Hopefully your car will be flying again at full strength soon!

Nope, standard Z22SE springs but with B207R sodium exhaust valves. And there be why I told Courtenay's not to rev it to the limiter on the dyno.

blocked oilway to the head or low oil pressure could make the lifters play up, doubt it's the valve springs

I would replace the engine loom first thumbsup

I was running the same oil Saturday with no ill effect at all. I have a spare head if we think there are issues there.

is Jon saying boost pressure forcing inlet valves open , or if its always at a particular rpm is it valve bounce?

I'm thinking boost pressure or exhaust back pressure

defo doing the loom. How would we check the oilway...? If the springs and lifters are being replaced would this be obvious...?

Strange thing is 5oc has had this same issue, and it has been the same cylinder too.... An oil blockage seems random.

So lets get springs and build another head ready for a swap. I have a head in the shed Fred, happy to donate to the cause.
