No that's not going back on, if it is swarf in the oil pump then it could have made it's way into the cam cover.

Thought about it but it just doesn't outweigh the potential issues that could reoccur Jimmys old engine will need to be fully stripped and rebuilt with new parts apart from rods and valve springs and made into a 300bhp one!

Much respect to all of you. It really is a great family on here. :grouphug: Jimmy, I'm sure you've had your fair share of crap luck so I'm predicting wins for the rest of the season. I'm a total mechanical monkey but if there's anything I can do let me know...start a fire in the competitions garages maybe

JJJ, get a genuine one from Vauxhall (£50) or from Autovaux, don't fanny about with a stretchy or sticky one as they have a habit of not lasting. Failing that, get a 2nd hand short drive shaft for a direct swap.

Then it's weight stripping time ;)

Bugger, I've got 3 19mm 90° silicone bends here. Bought them when I re-plumbed the header tank but never needed them. Which CV boot has gone? I've got an OE replacment kit for the outboard boot here.
