Interested to see the results. .....but as I've already said, the Syvecs ECU is the way forward ;)

I've looked at it and although it's expensive you get alot for your money. However it would be a big investment by an indivdual or company to get up to speed on mapping a SC conversion from scratch.

Even Mr R subs out the calibration :(

The mapping is easy with an ecu like this - just going through the process myself on my exige. Its not that expensive either when you consider what you get....traction control, launch control, switchable maps, data logging etc. You can also set it up with a whole host of engine safety features. Great bit of kit.

Tdi have done the mapping on the Europa, but there is a few outfits out there that will happily map Syvecs - better than been stuck to just Courtenaysport.

out of sick interest, what sort of overall cost would one be looking at for a Syvecks ECU swap?

One of the benefits of getting the turdo Motronic ECU in there, will be that we've got more chance of being able to get it mapped in other places, as it's pretty much an open book.

I'd love to punt £2.5k on a Syvecs ECU, custom loom and mapping but that's 25% of the value of the car. :(

2.5k?! ok i am out. even with traction control etc, i would have thorugh that with an ecu change to turbo and then you could put on after market itsms such as data loggers etc etc on there for a lot less?

Its not £2.5k, RRP is about £1200. The loom is not a big job once a plug and play adapter is done, and the mapping is a lot moroe straight forward. Bearing in mind a racelogic traction control is £800 alone, It pretty good value.

Doesn't it need an external ETB controller/translator box of some form as well, that Chris had to develop? I'll stand by my £2.5k estimate as it will all be virgin territory as far as looms and mapping are concerned, for the first SC'd Z22SE VX that rocks up and asks for it. I'd love the flexibility but just not at any cost, the car doesn't warrant it.

Klassen has enabled traction control on the VXT ECU and last I heard, he had done something with launch control in there as well. Granted, it may well not be as sophisticated as the Syvecs implementation, nor even workable on the Z22SE engine but I wouldn't specifically be looking either anyway.
