Awesome news! Are 470cc injectors bigger than VXR ones  confused now!

Worrying intake temps though! That will be something for me to tinker with this weekend :groupjump:

to be expected really the LSJ inlet manifold was designed to deal with alot lower temperatures and flow rate.

VXR are 470cc I asked Jon to set the rev limit at 7200rpm I will now start research on better cooling for the ontake manifold I seem to recall some of our American friends have been working on this, back to the cobaltss site again  did make me wonder if you could cool the temps down what would it give with the smallest pulley on :D

Americans still haven't come up with a good solution to date all have failed :( I have some big front bumper cut outs that I can now add addition cc rads!

yea but its the actual cooling area available inside the intake manifold rather than the rad size

Brilliant news Nick. Was Jon happy with the way it all worked? Time to bin the laminova's and come up with a new solution if we want to cool the charge any further? ETA: Ooops, thread has moved on since I started that reply

Jon was very happy thinks its a good result and the mapping was made easier due to having full access to the ecu

looks like it would extend into the bulkhead on a VX

The CC really needs redesigning from scratch IMO

Great result mate and well done courtnay also. Where is the next stage after this then do you reckon guys, what more can you do to the z22se engine. What else is needed for the stage 3 sc engine to get this sort of bhp is it just the new ecu and harrop sc, as im thinking i might go down this route one day.

Thanks

from stage 3 that should be ecu, loom with a few mods, Harrop, TB, maf and another few smaller mods

Maybe you should consider a methanol direct injection kit. I looked into this initially and I think they are both cheap to buy, cheap to run and self contained and easyish to install. You can buy kits that inject directly into the plenum and are triggered to do either when inlet temps reach a set level or when boost reaches a set level. The acutal spraying of methanol is very effective in dropping the charge temps by a lot. I know a place that you can bulk buy 99.8% pure stuff for 50p/Ltr.

Think that would probably just about fit but can't imagine it's particularly efficient (probably no more than the laminova's). Looks like it's reduced the volume of the stock inlet and also stuck a 180° turn through the cooler element.

The CC really needs redesigning from scratch IMO

Definitely. thumbsup

Water/meth injection next?

:yeahthat: A bandaid that will cool your system down is to fit a phenolic thermal gasket to the manifold. The system heats up quite a lot just cruising around!!! You can buy a modifier "single pass" intake manifold (ZZP) that is said to help (a bit) too, but as Winstar mentions this really needs a thorough redesign. (I'm thinking width; fit a small Denso alternator low and "widen" the manifold & coolers. More surface, less resistance, better cooling. Win-Win. thumbsup)

Kind of from the first thing to do to the last one (cheaper/easier to more expensive) "thermal gaskets" spacers gold foil style reflecting shield on the manifold Water wetter style additive E85 conversion inlet manifold internal porting (around the laminovas) nanofluid additive change the manifold.
