I dont think the software will let you map with an error code in place.   I hadnt run a second lambda for a while, the CMS map disables it. But i need to put one back in for the OBD tuner software. I think I mentioned this before. You could put a cheater in, but you are only cheating yourself, so to speak.

And cheating the software which you don't want to do when mapping

I can't understand what Peter is saying , all the second lambda does without a cat , is start at 0.9v, then slowly drop to a steady just above 0.4v , it is not switching with stoich at all.

If you have no cat or a non-working cat and the second sensor is working as intended then the second sensor will/should show exactly the same signal as the primay, so a lean-rich cycle. Just slightly delayed..

If a working cat is present then the second sensor will show a virtually 'flat' voltage signal that only varies with overrrun (no fuel injected, only air going through) or open-loop/WOT running (rich) where it will move down or up the voltage range.

This is how the ECU logic detects a 'dead' cat. If there are too many voltage swings fromt he second sensor in a timeframe then it decides that the cat is not working anymore.

However.. As I understood does the Z22SE ECU do more with the second sensor than just a simple cat efficiency check. It's also used as a sort of rough 'fallback' sensor if the ECU finds that the primary has failed and it's also used continuously by the software to cross-check/verify the operation of the primary sensor.

Bye, Arno.

Nick I've been doing some reading for you, you will need to get your wide and connected before you do anymore learning sessions but you also should go back to the base map first to check the wide band is working by doing a power measurement and processing AFR button before you go in to learn fuel mode, This bit is new to me to but we will get there, I just wished I lived closer

I think the wide band can only be used for power runs. The software then changes the fuelling by pressing the process button to make real and estimated AFR the same. All other learning is done using the narrow band. I think this is correct. I would drive the car using rpm up to 4-5000 rpm in normal closed loop learning.

Which widebands did you people fit?

I am still looking at the one that Peter recommends.

plus any details on EXACTLY where you fitted the sensor in would be really great as I am goin on a visit to my exhaust guy the weekend after next.

Have you set ot up in general then settings, putting the right values in

9.15 Finding the optimum full power fueling using a wide band sensor
If you think the engine cannot handle the extra stress of a lambda 1 learning session in the wide open throttle area and you have a wide band sensor connected to the EGR input, you can use this method. With this method the engine will not run lean provided your fuel supply system is big enough and you start with a rich enough mixture. Make sure your wideband sensor is connected and configured correctly; for more information see also: Connecting a wideband sensor
Make sure your base fueling table is correct, when in doubt; do a fuel learning session, no need to go into the wide open throttle regions. The learning session is necessary to get a correct base fuel table so the fuel trims are stable during closed loop driving and will not influence the open loop running. (For more info on how to do a fuel learning session see also: Learning the base fuel table)
It is very important to put in the correct EGR input settings. When in doubt, make a log file and look at the AFR values during cruising, these must be around 14.7 AFR.
Default settings for an Innovate LC 1 wideband sensor:
Start:
1. Do a power measurement; for more information see also: Power measurement.
2. Double click on the EGR input line in the bottom of the power graph, the red line is the voltage coming from the EGR input; in this case it is the output from the Wideband Lambda sensor. The EGR input is logged 64 times every second and will

I am going to have to look at this in the morning when the car is cold to see what IAT I have along with map pressure. I looked now and it shows water temp 61C IAT 65C, wow..

Something else I have noticed which I will investigate tomorrow is the fact that the CC water temp is higher than it used to be I would have normally said it was tepid, today it's hot :o
