Another import that should have stayed out in the colonies. I'd rather get the front of the car resprayed twice a year than have that anywhere near my car.

the pit that chips is the bumper?

Eitherway, i've had ventureshield for a couple of years now and not a chip. cost £400 for the front (up to the bonnet) and mirrors.

Gawd, I thought the S1 already looked a bit like a beach buggy but that is properly awful now.

It looks like some form of bizarre automotive gimp mask, not a good look.(Sorry Joe) Principle of these things is similar to those horrendous clear plastic three piece suite covers (old) people have sometimes, yeah, your settee looks like new in twenty years when you take it off but but it has looked absolutely shite for those same twenty years

 I've never understood those sofa covers. They must be awful to sit on and that's presumably why they work. Nobody spends more than 30 seconds on them

Despite my car being somewhat of a 'tatty' example, its got/had relatively few stone chips up front and I have done fuckloads of miles through all weathers/roads etc. I have heard that even paintshield WONT stop chips (persay) as the impact damage would still break the paint, but you wont see it till you come to peel the stuff off for replacement in a few years.... so you would have paid 2 front blow overs for the film and then another front blow over to get it nice again  repaint every 2-3 years would be enough imho.

I an thinking about getting the front of mine resprayed and then getting a clear vinyl wrap done over it keeps it tidy and you can only tell up really close. Don't think it costs that much either from what I have been told.

I'd much rather have stone chips than something that hideous. My Elise had 112,000 miles when I sold it and at least 75,000 miles of hard use on road and track in my ownership. Touched up the stone chips about once a Month and from a few feet away it still looked pretty good. As said, I would rather splash out for a front end respray every couple of years if I was that much of a GJOB, I'm not though ;) I seem to remember tut saying that he never actually used the bra.

Had ventureshield on my last 3 cars with no problems at all On one of nellys welsh runs a rock (and I mean rock!) hit the front clam penetrating the film and literally pushing it back so bad I paid £400 for Covertech to remove the film and replace it, when it was removed there was no paint damage whatsoever to anywhere on the clam the stuff really is like armour :) Just taken delivery of my S3 Elise SC and the earliest Covertech could fit me in was today so in 3 weeks I did... 80 miles and that included getting it home from buying it! I just did not want to drive it without the ventureshield protecting it! Covertech as always have done a superb job full front, full sills, and rear arch protection totally invisible from less than a meter away and even 30cm away you'd have to look very hard to see the edges the whole from clam is done in just 3 pieces If you've just had a respray or want to keep your car looking like it does now it's a no brainer IMHO :)
