I'm confident that in an a super spec VX I could be quicker than Gavin's Evo. Sure Gavin IS on the limit on some bends and very skillful but it's the limit for that car/chassis. A super spec VX will outcorner him (mine can outcorner him) and with sufficient power will be able to hold it's own on the straight bits too.

Look at Corrum at Snet. Using the 5 plastic markers at the end of the corner.... @the first he's doing 80, I'm doing 87. @ the third he's doing 81, I'm doing 83. @ the fifth he's doing 61, I'm doing 71.

Where he spanks me is the following straight. As previously mentioned he pulls 154mph where I only could only get 122mph.

Look at the 2010 final at Snet. Steve Guglielmi in a kick ass Lotus chassis with big power was a full 2 seconds clear of Gavin..... You watch if Randy does a one hit this season, he'll clean up!

Jimmy, don't forget that Gavin was on ditchfinders though, which are worse on the Evo than your car due to its higher weight and power. I reckon the Evo's on proper tyres are only slightly down on corner speed compared to our chassis. However, we are able to make up alot of time in the braking zones etc. Steve G in his Audi Turbo Elise was probably slightly quicker round the corners than the top evo's etc and most likely a fair bit better under braking. However, even with his 600-700 bhp he still got completely murdered down the straights!!! Some circuits suited him more than others and he therefore always came out on top or very near. At Snetterton for example, a track which wouldn't suit him as much as a big power Evo, he came 2nd. His time on road tyres was quicker than any qualifying time in British GT on full slicks. My corner speed through some of the turns at that track in 2010 were the quickest out of any class, however I slightly put that down to the fact that the big power cars, including Steve G have to approach the lap in a different way due to the speed that they reach and have to scrub off going into the corners. Steve is also a very, very, very good and experienced driver. So, I reckon to be competetive in Pro against the top cars you would need at least 600-700 reliable bhp with excellent driveability, under 800kg weight, to be a very experienced consistant driver and perhaps have a sequential gearbox too. Randy has a very fast Europa for sure, but I'm sure it would get completely destroyed down the straights without having enough extra corner speed to make up the difference. Then again, I could be talking complete s**t, who knows..............

Gav was on the top P Zero tyre which is a far better tyre than the Nero's/Rosso's I had to use, but that's by the by. I didn't realise Steve was getting battered on the straights; that said though he was still a LONG way ahead of Gavin last year so would have had similar sucess if he'd entered this season no...? We're discussing here whether a highly spec VX would have been competetive against Gavin's Evo and I still think the answer is YES.

... With greatly increased tyre width, much improved aero & a very substantial power increase, I'm sure that the VX will be similar to Steve's performance. However, the cost for getting the car to that level & the R & D will rule most normal people out.
