Hello im looking to buy a VX220 but already modded to stage 2 - 4. I currently have an Astra VXR stage 3 300bhp, LSD and so on but theres too much power for a front wheel car. I was wondering, due to weight etc would a stage 2 VX220 leave a stage 3 Astra VXR in a straight line? I've never been up against one but i LOVE them and i cant stop looking at buying one. Any info would be great, thanks :)

Why do you want a modded one? Even a standard one will leave your astra for dead in the real work and has more than enough power to allow you to pen thr inevitable "i was only doing 30mph when the back stepped out" post. No fwd car, no matter how powerful, will prepare you for a vxt.

Where are you? I have a stage 4 VXR fitted with your astra turbo and different injection rail.

stage tuning is for :gayfight: anyway..... eg If I ran a tuning company (firstly I'd have no customers as most folks dont like reality/bluntness ) I'd do ONE stage of tuning wether that was a spark plug change to a 1000000000bhp engine

Based on this statement, you're missing the point of a VX220.

Yes, put sticking an iron block in the back of a VX220, misses the point of the VX220 :P :groupjump:

Regardless of whether it's quicker or not, it will still be ten times as enjoyable as a hatchback to drive.

I'm with the above ^ Drove my Ibiza FR 205bhp/1154kgs so similar to standard VXR The only thing I liked was the smooth gear change and the speed (my VX is 2.2 so turbo is different) The steering was numb and the suspension was so bouncy I felt so unsafe on corners don't think I could ever own a FWD "hot" hatch again Go and test drive one!

Best thing you can do is try one. I am sure there will be a local member who will take you out for a spin. To be honest these cars are not for everyone. Be warned if you are easily infected with the modding bug these cars seem to have limitless options for different/racier parts. Personally I think they are great fun. Best regards, Paul

Your astra is a fast car, I've driven one or two... but is based upon a rep/shopping cart..... The vx220 is a Lotus sports car, built from the ground up to be fun...... (on a budget).....

Cheers lads. Im from Morpeth, 15 minutes from Newcastle. Yeah my VXR is fast, 0 - 60 in 5.6 seconds and top speed 169mph but cornering in the VXR is a nightmare. I'd rather buy a modded VX220 in good condition because i'd be saving money because i would want to mod it anyway. I know the VX220 will beat the VXR on corners hands down but i was just wondering about straight line too, my car will JUST overtake about half a car length infront of a MK2 Focus RS... What are the VX220 rivals? I heard on another forum a stage 3/4 could beat a Porsche 911 turbo?

Depends how big your balls are.
a standard 2.2 vx can go VERY quickly round a track in the right hands if you have the confidence to really throw it about and can do it properly.

I was in Nicol's car (stage4) at knockhill (before the map was sorted out) and we were neck and neck with an extremely well driven GT3 up the straight. Neither pulling away from the other.

I'm fairly sure a well driven VX would outcorner a GT3

Also, for reference, my Stage 2 Supercharged VX would outpace a Focus RS up to around 75ish, then we'd start getting even.

So basicly the VX220 stage 2 + would kill my VXR on a straight? With so little weight how do they do top speed, bet its scary? What are they like on corners compared to a Evo?

So the VX doesnt keep the power up after 75MPHish? Because of weight?
