To the OP I think the problem here is that you are doing the equivalent of putting a Picasso or Rembrandt in front of a load of art critics, raving about the frame it's in and then wondering why you are getting some raised eyebrows. The genius of the VX is the chassis and the appreciation of that genius comes from the bends, not the straights. If you buy one, then it's your car and you should get out of it what you want to, but be aware that to ignore the capabilities of the handling of this car, rather than it's straight line performance is to miss the whole point of the car. Once you have driven one, then hopefully all will become clear! I know of a fella who has an S1 Elise (same chassis) who has developed the car extensively. The only thing he's done to the engine however is to improve the oil flow to prevent oil surge/starvation. It still kicks out a heady 118bhp, but nothing this side of a single seater will get anywhere near it on track. The only limit to him going quicker at the moment is that, despite a four point harness, he can't keep himself in his seat on the bends due to the lateral g-force! If you don't need to slow down for the twisty stuff, then acceleration becomes pretty irrelevant. I hope that helps you understand a bit more of the mind set of many of the individuals on here?

On a head to head between a 300bhp SC vs a 300bhp VXT in a straight line, my money would be on the extra torque of the tubby winning out in the end. Pretty sure there'd be nothing in it to 60mph, maybe the NA might have the edge with less weight and better gear ratios. But to 120mph+, for example, pretty sure el turdo would muscle it's way past. That torque has to count for something, doesn't it?

Actually i'm pretty sure the holes in the Ts torque curve would disadvantage it. couple that with extra weight and the SC would almost certainly be faster. Does it matter though :P

haha posh? you should come to the essex meet

dont see it as people being harsh, just if you ask silly irrelevant questions and you get silly answers..

i personly dont see how putting your foot down from 70/80 till top speed makes a difference and what car your comparing it two...

I'd have thought that the skill of the driver in applying 300bhp to the tarmac in a 900kg projectile would have had more of a bearing on which out of a VXT/SC was quicker??

You have a point Matt, the torque of the Ashtray will come into its own in the higher gears but in a drag race (1/4 mile) the VX220 at 300 BHP will take the spoils especially if it is a tubby as that will also have the torque in spadefuls.

Still making fun. All i asked is would a stage 4 VXT beat my VXR after 70mph. Im not wanting a VX just cause it might be faster, if i wanted to go that fast in a straight line i'd buy a VXR8, BMW supercharged or something like that. I know that the VX will be way better than my VXR for cornering, braking, feel, 0 - 60 and pretty much everything other than space, boot space etc which i dont care about... the VX vs VXR after 70bhp was just a bonus to have, a nice bonus. Some of you have said come to a meet, i'd love to but if i was spoken to like i am on here i wouldnt just stand there so best not. When i first bought the VXR i didnt have a clue about them, or modding engine wise but i signed up to vxronline.co.uk and got some good advice. Every mod i've done to my VXR has been done by me except the LSD, my mate had to help with that. Even painting i did myself but im obviously selling it very very soon so if i post the specs of the car and a pic could you tell me roughly what its worth? Im usure if i would get more selling the parts separate though.

Can a mod please ban these un-supportive and frankly un-funny posts. The man asked a reasonable question and deserves a reasonable answer.
