If there are some posts in the thread that are incorrect i'd rather they were shown to be incorrect rather than simply deleted. I'm not convinced by the evidence thus far. If the OP does want this thread or posts within it deleted, then i suggest he PMs a moderator, who will put the matter up for discussion between the moderators of this site. Upon concensus, action will be taken accordingly.

James, There was another post linking to a pistonheads advert which appeared to be a scam. I 'think' that was the only link to the BJ04 plate.

Just to be clear, my post that has been deleted was based upon information freely available and posted elsewhere on the forum. I was simply acting in good faith by highlighting that thread to potential buyers. So I'm a bit concerned that my post has been deleted whilst the original thread still exists. If the thread I linked to contains false information then it is that thread that should immediately be deleted. If the mods consider that the original thread should remain on the forum then I don't see why my post should have been deleted. :angry2:

As I understand it the linked thread is about a scam for a car that does not exist for sale that just so happens to use the reg of this car and this car is fine
Having said that I too am slightly worried now that there is a question mark over this car, is there someone who can definitively clear this up.
Of course as said before all normal checks would still need to be run if parting with hard earned cash for any car

BTW the car does look greatPosted Image

Posts can be sorted.

This is a quote from my own research:

I've just done a check, the plate on it now is clean, the write off was on a private plate - the private plate was written off on a VX on the 7th March '04, however that private plate was only applied to THIS VIN on the 9th July '04 - therefore the plate was on another VX when it was written off - then transferred to this one (4 months apart). I would assume he wrote one off, received a payout, then bought another VX (this blue tubby) and put the plate on.

The current plate (BJ04) was put on this car in March '04 (I assume as the previous seller was getting ready to sell up), then removed in the July when the private plate was put on.

Note: The written off car on the private plate was a different VX220 to this one, hence why the check shows 'uncertain'.

It's the same as the red N/A I have, packs owned a silver car with the number plate S222OVX and it was hit by a bus and written off. He then took that plate off and put it ONTO this red one. It now shows up as suspicious when you HPI check it - because the PLATE not the car was recorded on a write off, and because they were both VX220's, the system just gets confused and doesn't know what to think.

I think we've cleared up this little matter. Seb has put it perfectly three posts above and all the posts have been restored. My feeling is that this thread is a help rather than a hindrance to the owner of the car as it shows that the car is clean, but that some searches could pick up the issue highlighted and linked. Best of luck with the sale.

I disagree to an extent Wolfie (in best interests) posted an inconclusive link Un necessary speculation followed which caused the OP un doubted grief. If the link posted by Wolfie is agreed to be a scam pistonheads ad the Vx.org thread should be deleted. Easy.

Well I can honestly say it has been an experience selling my car on this site! My pride and joy has just sold and been driven away :-( So what do people recommend I should buy to replace my car taking into consideration the following criteria: Age: 3 years ish Price: 7-8k MPG: 45ish would be nice Must have min of 4 seats Must be fun to drive I know whatever it is will be disappointing (although possibly not in December)?
