I've read the other posts on this subject and I've ordered the latest version S2 front roof seal from B&C. The problem is that the existing seal is incorrectly fitted, so I can't see exactly how the new seal is meant to align with the windscreen surround. Can someone please post some pics of the seal correctly fitted and show where the soft top wires align with the seal? Help hugely appreciated.

Perfect, thanks. Confirms that the seal on mine was fitted by a muppet.

I've put fixing the leak from the a pillar drains as my top priority. Closely followed by a new wiper due to our excellent British summer Posted Image

Not sure if the seal is leaking due to degrading or if it's just a bad design on the OE part.

Guess the seal linked above should fix it if it's the a pillar drains? Is it an easy swap over, ignoring time and effort spent cleaning the old glue off?

Lots of time! I spent 4 hours cleaning off the old tape, 3 hours for the front seals. Would fit brand new - if you prepare the surface well it will stick perfectly well and is a decent amount under £100

Just looked up how much AstonVauxhall charges for a Vauxhall Turbo Roof seal:

Turbo roof seals 9198484 - £130+VAT

So £156!

Kind of. It's more how much my supplier charges me. I don't have much choice in the matter.

Think I'll get one ordered today. Then I get the bank holiday weekend to fit it, bet it pisses it down now.

What really amuses me is that the original front seal was made by lotus. A few (many) VX's had leaks so GM made the 'turbo seal'. Lotus saw that and decided it was good so now fit it on the elise etc. AFAIK GM now supply lotus all the seals, Lotus supply back to vauxhall seals for the VX. Each resupply has its mark-up. Really it should be cheaper from vauxhall.

FLD that would be far to simple and obvious for vaux. Anyway ordered it, with vat and P&P it was £103. Next up on the list is wiper arm/blade.

Sounds about right.

I paid £91.50 for the front and £84.47 for the rear, plus £10.20 for express delivery - that was PSR Automotive back in February. To my knowledge, the cheapest place for the seals.

Is it fairly easy to fit ? Mine (03 VX NA) has severe problem - it ultimately comes in from the front and rear !! Also anyone know where I can get petrol cap alloy nuts ?

Really easy to fit, just do over the top first from one corner, then peel off the tape in sections down the sides as you stick. The tricky bit is getting old glue off. I use a wooden door stop (seriously) as it go the glue off without damaging the surface underneath, and some panel wipe to soften it up (from a paint supplier). Could be worse if anyone has re-glued any portion of it and I genuinely wish you luck!

Indeed, order it end of last week, then saw the forecast yesterday. Rain/thunderstorms from today onwards. Hopefully it will go up north where it belongs at the weekend. If it does I'll give my impression on fitting it. Boombang, do you mean start on 1 corner and go along the top to the other corner first then do the sides? That was my plan as the corners look like they are the hardest bit of the fiting. Here's to good weather and easy to remove seals!

The corners are the easiest bits as there's only really one position that they naturally fit in. So gives you a good base to work from, for the bits that are a little more open to interpretation. It's also quite handy to have some masking tape to hold the seal in place at a couple of points around their route, where they'll try and come unstuck. It's an easy job and shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to fit the new seals. Cleaning up after the old seal is the time consuming bit.

Thanks for the heads up techie thumbsup Should allow me to plan a bit better if there's 'windows' of dry over the b/h weekend. Got some gum/glu cleaner a hairdryer and some paint prep wipes to make sure the surfaces are as good as I can make em.
