The alloy bar arrived today so I knocked up a couple of cam blanks
I also drilled and tapped the oilway (below the cam blank) to M10 and fitted a M10 grubscrew with some threadlocker

The head porting continues

Had the head lightly skimmed after finishing the porting.

I also drilled and tapped the inlet manifold fixings to M8, you can't see them in the pic because thats the exhaust side :P

the supertech double valve spring kit was fitted with the original saab valves

Posted Image

then the head was fitted to the block using a saab head gasket

Posted Image

then the saab cast roller rockers were fitted along with the hydraulic lifters and compcams blower camshafts

Posted Image

It appears that supertech must have used the later spec cast roller rockers when they designed their z22se/L61 double valve spring kit because they required no modification and have plenty of clearance

I made a couple of tools to make 'timing up' the Saab cam sprockets much easier, so with my crank degree tool fitted it wasn't too bad a job

Posted Image

Once the timing was triple checked it was time to seal the engine up with the oil pump and cam cover

Posted Image

Just need to make a cover for the blanked off exhaust auxillary drive and then it's finished :D

Alanoo, do you know the ATI dampers? These are said to do a good job on higher rpm ecotecs...

They do
they are not better on a stock bottom end, but as soon as you change any rotating mass in the bottom end, they will work better than the stock damper.

The overdrive one needs a small bit of machining on the oil pump cover

The last job was to make an adaptor to allow the LSJ 6 rib pulley to fit the z22se alternator, a spacer and sleeved nut soon had that sorted :D

I need you to supply me with a LSJ 6 rib pulley first because it needs machining to use the adaptor I make  [attachment=23400:pulley adaptor parts.jpg]

you are only as good as your tools :D

Are you really sure you would want to live near me

Because you would have a 2.4 litre Harrop engine if you did

I've got nothing against superchargers, I have been vaguely considering adding one to my engine to help beef up the low end. One of those little vortex ones that look like 1/2 of a turbocharger. It would help add some nice torque below 4000 revs. I have heard the trasnition from s/c to turbo is hard to map and control if you use a clutch, so I would be tempted to let the SC boost all the way to 8000 with no clutch or bypass. What do you think ?
