The ABS Cut off switch mod is what Joe's talking about.
I think I may wait for a cheaper second hand unit to come up...

I know they have a bad reputation but I think UK Lotus Center have a few more in stock at £162 delivered, I just fitted mine today, took all of 2 minutes.

My main problem with this is that my car is currently SORN'd and in the garage, so if I buy a unit for £162, then I wont have a chance to see if it works/is correct until April. At which point i'd bet UKlotuscentre wouldn't want to know!

G

I think I'm right in saying that those who have had issues when swapping the ABS unit over have always had the ABS light come on so it should just be a case of turning the ignition on to see if it is working correctly.

Yes if it goes out as normal then you're good to go, but it's very rare when fitting a 2nd hand part.

correct. I bought my 4 channel abs unit new from lotus (and picked it up from the factory). I then went down to Hangar 111 and they did a reset for me; works perfectly now.

Out of interest, how much did that cost Dave?

Just off the phone to them. They've had 5 orders this morning and 4 on Friday. Just to be clear - he did say that this was offered on an exhange basis.. not sure if that's what other people were told or just me :D I'll be happy to be shot of the VX unit after it's repeatedly tried to kill me on the bumpy road that I use to escape from work.

i got mine from christopher neil lotus, but i was in a hurry so i picked it up directly from the lotus factory- rather than the factory posting it to them and them posting it to me. Their website is here.

I think it was about £375, but it may have been £325 either way he sold it to me as a discounted rate.

Hangar 111 charged me £20 for a reset using their device, as i said before they have the info as a not on their file, just say you are bringing a vx down for an abs reset and they have done it before for Dave Williams- yellow/silver vx220. mine did take a little while to "learn" the light came on a couple of times when testing and not has been fine since and has been used at le mans. (

Hope this helps :)

As in he has no more?

Is there a specific part number to ask for or do all lotus have the 4 channel abs?

He has sold six now he asked me to say all units are on a exchange bassis now as it leaves him with pump section only. He says there off elises with four channel abs as this is fitted to all new cars so think its worth doing a good check with car when fitted to make sure it works 100%

Didn't say anything about an exchange basis to me.

that is the one i bought and i believe the one that techiboy has as well. as there was no price difference i went for the most race orientated one and also a cal that i knew had the same wheel set up as mine. although i think that all alise abs units are 4 chan.... look at the thread i put a link to, this has the part numbers you need :)

Not 211R. A 111R is what you want. Mine was off an Exige Cup 260 that was being converted to LHD but assume it's identical to the 111R unit.

Lotus said they only list one ABS unit for the Exige/Elise/211 so surely they are the same?

ooops, thanks. they should all be the same, as it is the same part number... i just know what i asked for at the time was right. althought his was before i went to Le Mans and for me that was a long time ago and many brain cells have been killed off in the process that is survival of the fittest :drink:

Thought I'd gone over all this. There is only one part number listed, from 04 cars onwards. Any car with the Toyota engine has the same part wether an Elise or exige or vxr!

Just had a call from UKLC - they have no more individual control units, and have since changed their mind about splitting one of the elise pump/controllers if I sent back my VX unit.. They did offer to sell me a complete unit for £295 though.
