It would seem someone bought something from him that wasn't exactly what it said on the tin, ergo a slagging off rant kinda thing ensued, some dodgy listings on piston heads n a poor purchase from someone on ere I think. But you must remember he's a breaker selling parts off smashed cars ( I know, I've seen them!!) so they may well be not as good as you expect the bits to be. If your civil to the guy,who by the way I could not fault, then expect him to be congenial… give him grief n expect a pain in the arse! If your spending a large wedge that needs to be right then go down n look before you buy,is my advice. I'll use them again, but that's my personal view.

Got my ABS unit today and the sticker says S108196012 which is correct for the Lotus ABS unit and all other numbers on the sticker correspond. I would also recommend UKLotusCenter though I will wait until I fit and try it before praising the ABS unit itself!

They sell bent cars and try to hide the fact. The truth is hard to come by when they sell cars.

ok, update from deroure:
Hi Nigel,

My cost on these are £358.20 + VAT so I'd be prepared to sell them at cost
price to you if you can get some good word out on the forum and then
hopefully I can make on repeat orders and over the long term.

Let me know if this helps?

Best Regards, Keith

DeRoure Ltd
Driving Lotus Parts Forward

will see if lovetts will do their price including the diagnostic activation.......

for those of you who jumped on uklotuscentre well done.

for an update on fixing the problems....
my problems were intermitent, hard pedal when you dont want it..... ice mode when braking on rough ground and then abs light coming on after ice mode.....
no matter how hard i have tried with all 3 units i cant induce the faults....... so will have to suck it and see, but feels better, more sude footed when braking..

how many do we have now that still need a unit, and who are interested in the prices so far?

So am I right in thinking that this price (£429.94 inc VAT) doesn't include the 'pairing' of the new modlule to the car, which being a new unit would need to be done?

yes, but so is lovett's but if i can get lovett to do theirs including activation, maybe pre-activated on one of thier cars then that would drive it down again..... or even to be able to supply and get them recoced on your cars at a lovetts near you therefore reducing cost in petrol by not having to drive to swindon.....
but....... if deroure can code them prior to sending out...... this is something i need to find out this week.....

but the burning question is...... how many of you are still interested at these prices, which can only go down a lil bit more?
will do the mails now so hopefully will have a reply tommorrow(ish)
stay tuned..........

The ABS Cut off switch mod is what Joe's talking about. I think I may wait for a cheaper second hand unit to come up...

I know they have a bad reputation but I think UK Lotus Center have a few more in stock at £162 delivered, I just fitted mine today, took all of 2 minutes.

Did it work straight away or does it require 'unlocking' by a main dealer to make it compatible with the VX?

I'll have to answer that one when I've reconnected the ABS at the hub which won't be for a few more days when I take it out of the garage but Dumfunk had the same item fitted by UK Lotus Center themselves and hasn't mentioned having to activate it so should be fine.

My main problem with this is that my car is currently SORN'd and in the garage, so if I buy a unit for £162, then I wont have a chance to see if it works/is correct until April. At which point i'd bet UKlotuscentre wouldn't want to know!

if its second hand its already been activated, fit it and go.... plug n play :D
only brand new units need activating..
and it really is a 10 minute job, 4 screws and an electrical plug n its done.. ;)

How do you mean? They are only down the road to me (about 10 minutes) if postage is the issue.

Some help with verifying the numbers are right, and indeed putting it in a box and ship it to the netherlands.
Happy to round off the number to 200, if it's the genuine thing.
