Right, have been lurking on here for a while now. But am now in a position to change to a VX220. Have wanted one for ages! Anyway here's some spec of my current car. Ive driven lots of VX's and Elise's, and to be honest in terms of pure acceleration, noise and excitement, this is closer to a Exige/VX Turbo than the normally aspirated cars. And thats about as high praise I can give it. However its time for me to try another project.

Details:

The car is a 1998 registered on an R plate, and has done 78k miles with a wallet full of documentation of previous history. The car is MOT'd until January 2012 and Taxed until October 31st. Being a UK spec car, it comes with the cheaper insurance premiums associated, which makes a substantial difference compared to Japanese spec imported Eunos roadsters. The car is one of the very last MK1's registered in the UK and is much better screwed together than my 1990 early MK1 I had previously.

Drivetrain:
The car has the larger 1.8 engine which in standard guise originally produced 133bhp. It has been very well looked after, the timing belt was changed at 70k miles, as well as the water pump and fuel filter. Around 5k miles ago the car also received a full oil change using 5w40 fully synthetic Mobil oil. In terms of modifications the engine has been fully converted using a Jackson Racing Supercharger kit with a standard pulley fitted by Mark at OnlyMX5's. It has Power Card fuel control and Bipes retarder to prevent detonation. The heater matrix supply and return hoses have been replaced with uprated items as well as matching Jackson Racing oil cap. The clutch has been upgraded to a Exedy stage 1, which was fitted at 70k miles which included the gearbox seals and release bearing, as well as the gearbox and differential oil. The upgraded clutch is now more than able to cope with the engines improved power and torque. Talking of which, I know I will receive lots of emails regarding figures. The car hasnt been on a rolling road, although a typical install would generally expect 165-180bhp. The car has only ran on Shell V-Power.

Chassis:
The car has been lowered on recently reconditioned Gaz Coilovers. These are very expensive items, and completely transform the handling of the car, as well as improving the looks thanks to the reduced ride height. To cope with the improved power, the brakes have been upgraded. These are now EPC dimpled and grooved disks all round with yellow stuff pads. The whole lot have under 8k miles on them. Wheels are XXR Sportmax Gunmetal and polished 513's. 15X7 front and 15x8 rears with good tread left on the tyres.

Exterior:
The car looks much more muscular than a standard car. The wide arches give the car a more aggressive look, and acompany the wider wheels. The car is painted in metalic black. The paintwork is not perfect as the car is used everyday although it is more than presentable, there are a few cracks along the bottom of the doors and the odd paint touch up but nothing terrible for a 13 year old car. The front mazda badge has been smoothed off as well as the number plate, which has been relocated to the left on a custom bracket and he plates are custom pressed metal. The right headlight lid is louvered to help air flow for the supercharger. The fuel cap has been replaced with a Zoom chrome version, which is worth almost £200, and really sets the car off. The also comes with a rear Datum tow hook and yellow TRS front tow strap. The front indicators have been replaced with clear versions, along with the sides, whilst the rear are rare JDM red versions. The headlights have been upgraded to Orsam bulbs, whilst the sidelights have blue LED's.

Interior:
The inside is set off by new leather covered grey seats from an import Eunos, and have headrest speakers which are ready to be wired up. It also comes with a carbon console (very rare and expensive!) as well as a perfectly weighted Thrust gear knob. The handbrake is a Cusco fly off drift version. As this is one of the late MK1's the car also features a drivers airbag, electric windows and mirrors.

Roof:
The car has a recently fitted soft top, which has no leaks and is in very good condition. I also have a mint matching hard top with heated rear screen which can be negotiated into the price if wanted.

Security:
To keep everything safe the car has an alarm, immobiliser operated by remote central locking on the key fob. The car also has a TR Lane rollbar powder coated in yellow (getting very expensive these days!)

Details:
The car is located in Carnoustie, I am happy for anyone to view the car here. I also have a flat in Ratho outside Edinburgh so is also practical for me to meet there. Any other viewing arrangement can be sorted by contacting me. I am looking for £3495 for the car as is, although I will consider any sensible offers. The hardtop can be negotiated in if wanted (worth ~£500) I think the price is very competitive for the specification of the car and the condition it is in, you could easily spend £8-10k to build a car to this spec! This is in a completely different league from a standard MX5. Any questions on the car please get in touch, I would be happy to listen to any swaps/part ex's if you've got something interesting.
