Why aren't all airfields on a slope, it makes perfect sense?

Why aren't all airfields on a slope, it makes perfect sense?

 

 

I'd imagine that in windless countries/locations it's more prevalent, but somewhere like the UK you have to have multi-directional runways as the wind direction is the most important factor, especially for light aircraft that have less inertia and are more sensitive to cross wind.

 

I used to fly a lot in Germany in the summers when I was a teenager and due to lack of wind and being on a massive military airfield you could take off or land almost in any direction. My instructor was an ex-Luftwaffe Me 110 chief mechanic who served in WW2 !
