I guess i liked cars from teh 80's and those alloys are also simiar to the original NA ones (which i like).
(Ferrari 308 being one of my favourites)

My thoughts exactly - the compo's remind me of the type of wheels supercars had in the 80's :tt:. The 16/17 combo is the single best thing I've done to the car, it feels much better - more planted on the road and the steering feels lighter even with the wider fronts (I went for 205/50/16).

Are these speedlines or compmotives?

I would like to contact compmotive for a quote - what are the exact sizes for the VX220 (16/17 combo) that i should ask for?
(i'd like to run the Toyo T1-R Tyres...)

Really, so the bridgestones are still better for road use?
Given that i avoid going out in the wet - could i get away with a track tyre...

Do you need a semi-slick? Will you be doing enough trackdays to warrant the not inconsiderable cost of them and the on-road drawbacks (noise, wear rate, etc)? I've stopped using them on the road now, unless I've been to lazy to remove them after the last trackday as, as great as they are, they're wasted on the road. If you really think you need a super grippy tyre, then fit a halfway house tyre like the Toyo R1-R or the Yoko AD08. 90% of the grip of the semi-slick R888 or A048 but with less tyre noise, much more tread depth to start with and much greater capacity to deal with any water you might encounter.

I've currently got original NA 17's.
As far as i know the only option for those is the potenzas.

If im upgrading the ABS modules then im also looking for a quote for a set of 16/17 wheels (possibly TD's, possibly compmotvies) and i was wondering which tyre would be best for fast road use in the summmer.
I don't drive in the wet if i can help it and i can't see me getting the time to do a track day for a long time yet.
Plus the tread pattern on the potenzas is horrid and looks like a halfords mountain bike tyre...

After doing some research - R1R's seem to be the way forward.

Nope they were marginally lighter, and much lighter than proper speedlines.

And can you confirm the part number on compmotives website...is it M0177?

IMO these are the best looking wheels to go with a black vx.
Think the combo works great. Shame you got rid!

Thanks! I'd want them in silver to go with my Europa Blue NA.
Out of interest did you buy them direct for compmtive and what tyres (road use) do you use with them?

I have just spoken to James at Compomotive (top bloke) and he has said that he can do the 5 spoke Speedlinealikes for £773.00 delivered within the UK in most colours (matt black, gloss black, Gold, Silver etc). - This price is avaliable to anyone on the forum, usual price is £1,005 thumbsup Also spoke to Chris at Speedline Corse (UK) and he may be able to do a full set of Speedline Corse type 2110 SL (as fitted to the VXR220) for £840 per set. The problem is that the wheels are made in italy. He has front wheels in stock but the rears will need to be made - A minimum order of around 100 wheels may be required but chris did say if there was a largish group buy the minimum order maybe able to be significantly reduced. Sorry for the essay

At £840 per set of Speedlines (VXR wheels) I think you might have a goer. There are a few people who are willing to pay over £1000 for a 2nd hand set. Just depends how low the 100 can be reduced to.

you'll never get 50 people interested. At least you'll never want to take the risk on that sort of quantity. at 15 sets, 30 wheels you might just do it, still high risk though.
