Morning, I just wanted to know if anyone has any experience of this new bridgestone tyre. I'm currently running RE050's on the rear and 040's on the front with absolutely no issues and the rears have lasted me 21k miles but the S001's are a good price at the moment. I did read the wear was high with the S001's so I'm tempted to stay with the 050's as I've got 21k out of them. Any comments appreciated. SB

I've got S001's on mine, but haven't done enough miles yet to know if they are any good for wear. 21000 sounds good to me.

I'm happy with the grip from the S001's, although being an old fella I only potter around. :P If you do go for the S001's be careful when you first put them on - they're quite exciting until they're scrubbed off :excl: Like all new tyres, but just seemed a little more squirly.

Also bear in mind that if you want to get front and back the same, as far as I know you can't get the S001's in the unique VX size.

chinky chinky after some further research I've decided to go for the original RE040's with the correct Dot as 'GOD' intended ! There was only £2 per tire between the 40's and 50's It'll be interesting to see if they last as long. SB

I'd be very surprised if you can get 21,000 out of a set of RE040 BZ (VX specific) compound rears. The most I can get is about 10,000 but I guess a lot depends on your style of driving.

Just checked my RE040 rears which have covered 10,000 since being replaced and they've still got 4mm left. If I replace at 2mm then that will give me circa 15,000 from them. I don't track but neither do I pootle around.

Replaced mine about 2 wks ago having put on 22k while in my tenure. They were on the car when I got it 3 years ago so I,d say they have done at least 30k. Mind you they were slicks when I changed. I must really drive like a granny as I still had no issues even in the wet :D

I'm about to get some new rear tyres - what are the S001's like? If they are comparable to OE RE040s then I might make the switch? Good idea?
