On occasion.

Just finished trying out the Forza Horizon demo. Seems like a lot of fun, but even though they claim it's the same engine as Forza 4, it feels dumbed down somehow. That's not a massive criticism though, looked stunning and I like the open roads.

I was gonna ask if anyone had played it. Haven't got Gold at the minute so can't get teh demo. I was hoping for the exact physics/driving engine from Forza 4 thumbsdown . Will still try the demo if it becomes available to silver members or if I get gold. If it's still 90% as realistic as F4 I'll probably be happy, I do like the open-world environment idea.

That's me probably me being unfair.

Apparently to squeeze in all the new stuff they've dropped the frame rate from 60fps to 30fps, and added night driving, day night cycle, open world, etc etc.

It has all the same options as Forza 4 (simulation steering, manual w/clutch etc). The only on paper difference that I could find appeared to be that the option for damage seemed to be cosmetic only. And given the number of cars I front ended without any noticeable effect on the handling, I think damage has definitely gone.

That said I think the game would be nigh on impossible with simulation damage.

It's probably just that when I left Forza 4 last, I was racing R1-R3 class, and in the demo I was back in a standard dodge viper, ford mustang etc. So it feels a lot easier and more manageable but that could just be because I'm not comparing like with like.

That said the Mustang was still a pain to control, and it was certainly fun. It's a damn site better than any other open world racing game I've tried, and doesn't have all the hateful "arcade" steering.

Might try and pop home for lunch to give it a quick go. Checked out the video on you tube and looks pretty good.

Loved, and still love Forza 4. Hated this demo though. Physics just feel naff. Not completely shocking but different enough from FM4 to notice.

Looking forward to Forza Horizon. I usually CBA playing Forza on solo just going round tracks (except the ring), so a full landscape to play in sounds like something I could get lost in a for a few hours, no I've got my steering wheel and pedals back working.. Used to love GTA for the PS2 back in the day, simply because you could just drive about for hours (and stop to randomly beat the S**t out of someone :D)

Apparently it's gold only for 1 week.

Thought the Horizon demo was rubbish frankly, not actually got around to Forza 4 yet but compared even to Forza 3 the handling felt wrong both using controller or wheel. Cars seem to either have total grip or no grip with very little in between. Oh and if you're a fan of force feedback when using a wheel then avoid, even with FF turned to max both in game and in my wheel settings it was absolutely laughable. No FF when accelerating or braking or in the first 30 or 40 degrees of wheel travel, to be honest you only really feel anything when the car makes its magical instant transition from 100% grip to zero grip. Even using a pad the cars just feel wrong, I'm not a sim snob, I really like TDU and PGR1-4 but this just doesn't work for me at all. Real shame as the idea for this is excellent, TDU with more cars and Forza handling would be superb. Still at least WRC 3 is out in a few days to cheer me up.

This is something a chap posted on PH which pretty much sums it up spot on for me..

"Absolutly sPosted Imaget.

Without checking I can tell that the people from 'Dirt 2' had alot of influence on the game design. Very arcadey (is that a word?) Don't get me wrong, I love the Dirt series, but this is Forza.

Stupid annoying childish graphics everywhere with OTT commentators (in every menu, and every race, you can't escape from it). Forza is supposed to be a simulation game, which is what most of us (probably all of us on PH) played it for. The evo sounds sPosted Imaget from the little bits you can hear of it. So to sum up:

* The AI is fPosted Imageking stupid. I recorded a video on my phone last night of one of the AI racers crashing into me (I was stationary!) then proceeded to reverse and ram into me about 20 times and couldn't get past!

* Cars stay clean and don't get dirty off road (why would you not include this?! Stupid.)

* Cockpit view is dissapointing, not as much detail, and you can hardly see any detail at all in the daylight

* You can't actually hear the cars engine/gearbox sounds hardly at all, which was the best bit of Forza 4.

* When you can hear the cars, they sound sPosted Imaget.

* The cars feel and handling is too NFS.

* More that I can't remember

It just feels like they are trying to cater to a different croud, which in turn has made it a massive dissapointment, to me atleast. I'm glad I didn't pre-order and I won't be purchasing it. I'm only 40% through Forza 4 career anyway Posted Image

I hope Forza 5 will carry on the proper tradition."
