Good colour scheme that one I have thought of! White wheels look OK on that but I've got a Champ white TypeR with white wheels and it's a nightmare to keep em clean. I'm staying with black lol

Done a few bits today mainly tidying up bit and pieces got the boot aligned and fitted correctly and much to my relief opened again once shut! Fitted new bolts to adjust the boot shut positioning and stuck the rear rubber over the roll bar cover (Waiting for a new front rubber to turn up) and fitted boot carpet on poppers instead of Velcro.

Got a few more jobs done:

Changed all 4 flexi brake hoses for Hel S/Steel braided lines. Flushed old brake fluid through with 2 litres of DOT5.1

Posted Image

Bit of modifying to make brake pipe fitting a little easier/quicker!

Posted Image

Fitted the V onto clam.

Posted Image
Posted Image

Front screen booked in for tomorrow to be replaced - Bit anxious about that one!!! Hope all goes well!!

Got my windscreen replaced today by National Windscreens.. Did a cracking job! (Pardon the pun!)

My new screen waiting to be fitted:

Posted Image

The first cut! Notice the small hole in the bottom of the tool this is where the cutting wire is threaded through and pulled back into the car.

Posted Image

Wire spool suckered onto outside of window

Posted Image

Tensioning tool suckered to the inside creating a loop of wire inside and out

Posted Image

This it the gadget

Also fitted the front lights however they are don't fit great and are in bad need of refurb been given detail of a smart repair that restore lenses and recoat with polycarb finish..

This one not too bad
Posted Image

This one is worse - it has had tape stuck to the lense at some point and glue has taken off the polycarb coating..

Posted Image

Looks OK from a distance lol

Posted Image

And fitted on the VX

It took me 3 years to conclude why i had the same problem.
Always thought i got a replacement clam at some point from some new poorly batch, in which especially the left one just does not fit properly.
Tried every tip in the forum, and it has been in and out a gazillion times.
Got my hands on another one, which had the EXACT same problem. So it must be the clam right......

Got my hands on another set. This time oem NA ones. (the other 2 were NA's painted as tubby's)

For some reason, this one fits like a glove. I could not believe it. WTF.

Spend some time comparing them, and then it hit me.
After the lense split, they were glued back on sort of in the middle, with same amount of mm all around.
And that's where the logic goes wrong.
At the bottom side, the lense may only stick out about 1 mm from the plastic flaps which slide in the clam.
If you're off a few extra mm, above is what you get.

So there's my winter project. Splitting my lights.

I'd split 'em and spray the silver parts white while you're sorting out the lenses. The silver looks out of place now you've changed everything else.

Got to pluck up the courage to split them!

Although found a company in Grimsby that will refurb the lenses and polycarb laquer them again to 3 microns.

Post up the results when you get them done. One of my lenses could do with some TLC. How much does it cost?
