Not that one Matty, it is the other one. The one you dremmelled out is for the gangle pin bracket.

Please tell me a Gangle pin exists!! Like something Rambling Sid Rumpol would say :D

Sorry to disappoint

Well that's the Rack fitted wasn't as bads a job as I had expected although being double jointed would have helped.

Here's a few piccies not many as was too busy being upsidedown in the footwell.

It's all about having the right tools to do this job..

Rack now fitted with a little assistance from Cliffie.

Then off to have the tracking set..

Posted Image
Posted Image

Well once set took for spin around the car park and immediately noticed something was very wrong I could only get half a turn each way!!!
On inspection I noticed that numpty technician had twisted the crap out of the gaiters which was preventing the rack for getting full lock. After that was sorted all was good.

So the verdict........

From 2.78:1 to 2.45:1 ratios yes you can definitely tell the difference.

1. There is a noticeable increase in the effort you need to turn.. (Some of this may be down to the fact that it is new and nice and tight and the old rack was really loose and floppy... Plus the addition of new track rod end and drop links)
2. Far less input on the wheel is required to turn corners much easier to get around those tight ones!
3. Not really noticed any bump steer.
4. No more annoying rattles - well at least a lot less rattles!

All in all was it worth it...... YES!!

Thanks I'm chuffed with how it has turned out so far.

I agree on the seat but unfortunately it's a cash flow issue there. They are in pipeline once I have the money and they will be along the same design at the door cards.

There is still a lot of work to be done but now having done just over a 1000 miles it's time to spanner check and diagnose all those annoying rattes. Next job will be changing the bushes and painting the suspension arms hubs etc.. Job for over winter me thinks.. Then off to BOT to get it properly set-up.

Not looked at her for a couple of weeks due to a certian Cliffie bloke needing my time ;O) hopefully if the weather stays dry over the weekend I'll get a few more jobs done. (Air bag Squib is next to fix!)

That might just be an OP-COM job. I had the airbag light on and it pointed to the squib. Searching on here said it was more likely to be the airbag ecu. Swapped the ECU for a new one and still had the same error. But, a bit more fiddling with OP-COM and it turned itself off and so far hasn't returned.

I've got an Op-Com and tried various methods inlcuding swearing and hitting lol But can't get the light to go out.

You're welcome to come over and have a go yourself if you're feeling lucky!

Lee is that offer to try a swao with yours still on?

Mine won't go out either. Might also be the connections to the seat belt pre-tensioners.
