If you run this engine without the forged pistons to start with you may need extra ahead work when you do SC above 250 bhp which will end up costing more ££s and you will be weakening the engine ( less material ) and will need 86.5 forged pistons.

I would put in forged pistons but as I understand they are low comp and as I'm not s/c ing for maybe a season I don't want a N/A with even less power than it has already so you see my dilemma. If I have the cash to pistons and s/c all at once I would definitely do that. Maybe someone can offer some advise?

They are available on different compression But I'm no expert what you will need for NA Would it not be best to build your new engine for SCing when funds allow and just keep going with your current engine until it goes bang

Leave it alone. The slightly higher compression ratio of the B207 will help redress some of the loss of engine capacity if you're not planning on twatting about with a 2.2 crank.

There's more than enough meat in the liners if you ever do want/need a rebore. My murdered engine proved that, even with a rebore and the forged pistons running in an off-round bore and doing their best to give my engine an on-road rebore as the bearings had disintegrated, the liners held together.

Mat I would prefer to do all at once as you say leave current enigine in until it blows but I don't think it has much time left as is loosing water internally and has noisy lifters it's done 92k Going to try and leave it in as long a s possible but not ideal. Also want ro stay 2.2. If for instance I got N/A forged piston and then superchaged with those would that cause any issues Im not looking at chasing power 250-270 is my goal.

you can run 270-280 with the standard z22se pistons, which is plenty with a 4.17 gearbox  ;)

it's the z22se rods which die over 270  :beat:

whip the cam cover off and check inside the cam cover for any surface rust, it seems that was the only part not covered in oil at the factory

Cheers Vocky good advice (I'll probably not use the cam cover and use the VX220 OEM one.)

Not going to happen - both cam shafts on the B207 are long which means you can't fit the standard Z22Se cover on.

Smaller cams like lsj or zzp will make the Z22SE cam cover fit.

If you want to use the saab cams with the Z22SE cam cover, you need to saw a piece off of the cams.

Vocky will correct if i'm wrong

for long cams - Saab or lsj you need to either cut the exhaust cam shorter to use the z22se cam cover or use the Saab cam cover for short cams ( including cut down cams) you need a cam blank fitting, this can be used with either cam cover, but you need to modify it more to use the z22se cam cover I have done all three methods, so all are possible

Thanks for the compliment the white really pops in the sunand is better in real life as my camera can't handle the brightness! Engine build is the next step which will be done by Vocky god of engines! Just need to save my pennies for the parts I need. Updates to follow....
