Right gearbox sourced and bought being ferried back to MK tomorrow. 37k box for £50 bargain! Now just have to take it out all over again! Need to contact Courtenays as well to see if I can get a refund on Clutch Slave that blew.
get them to replace it and fit it to the '37k box'
fitted one yesterday and it works fine, so you must have got a duff one..

Nah not worth the hassle pull the whole thing out.
Waste of time having to remove and refit the clam as well as disconnecting everything and lifting out. Not to mention replacing brand new coolant etc!
Edit:- meant to quote Cliffie saying change box with engine in place.

Well time for an update - Fitted the replacement gearbox last weekend all whet well new slave fitted (replacement from Courtenays) everything as it should be all gears working etc...
Then came the road test...
1st.....
2nd.....
3rd.....
4th.....
Oh......
Oh dear......
Oh balls.....
Exactly the same noise at my original one I took out.
Get a noise (to quote Slindborg - sounds like a can of peanuts being spun around) when under load gets worse in higher gears. Also going down box the same noise on hard deceleration. Foot on clutch and it goes away, driving like a granny don't hear noise much at all.
So off I popped to a transmission specialist who has said sounds like could be the pinion bearings or first motion shaft.
To say I'm gutted / fed up / pissed off pulling engine in and out is an understatement..
Anyway looks like that is what I will be doing this Good Friday and Weekend once again!! (only the 4th effin time!)
Box is coming out and going to be rebuilt....... (Should of done this first but hindsight is doesn't really help... just pissed me off more!!!)
So if anyone is bored at the weekend and wants to lend a hand I'll be up to my armpits in Vx220 once again....
