Did cross my mind but I don't have the money for one. Not sure how I'm going to pay for the rebuild of gearbox yet.
As I said before you're welcome to any bits foc

Cheers Nick - Will let you know if need any parts. (I'll take a Quaiffe lol)
Strangely I'm not keen to be taking my box out.The final drive wouldn't suit your engine
Only just got her back on her wheels 6 months after the ' gorse bush' incident

Doesn't two gearbox failures right after changing the engine point to issues with the alignment between engine and gearbox?

Been busy with other stuff recently but time for an update:
5th time out for the engine and gearbox. And after much discussion with various people I decided to take off the CS Flywheel and CS Uprated Clutch plate and pressure plate.
So started work and upon draining the gearbox oil out of my 'newly refurbished' gearbox we noticed the the oil (only done 150miles) had a significant amount of silver and bronze coloured particles in it (Enough to make it look like a deep metalic paint. (Got the magent out and could 'chase' the particles around.
With this in mind and again a few knowlegable friends having a ganders decided to swap the gearbox for my origional one. I know you should only change one part at a time when troubleshooting but I've had enough taking engines in and out for now.
Anyway it all went back together along with my origional flywheel clutch plate, pressure place and origional gearbox...
And Guess what........
NO NASTY GEABOX NOISE! No chattering on idle!!!
So next step is to take oil and gearbox back to gearbox builder and get him to strip it down and explain what has happened to it.. (This I've not done yet)
But Happy days I've a VX I can now drive again albeit with my old gearbox which was a little rattley in the first place..
