Hi guys roughly every 100-150miles my car will throw up a p0130 eml. It's running great, no changes at all, search (from other engines) tells me it's the 'front lambda' Just to make sure before i drop £130 I presume that means the pre cat lambda sensor? I would have thought it would have showed some other sign but the light, but it's been on 3 times now(after being cleared) so I'm not going to ignore it? Fuel economy hasn't changed by the way, 35-40mpg

just ignore it , fitting a new lambda won't fix it, most likely an air leak around the exhaust manifold.

pull fuse 8 for 30 mins, if the light annoys that much.

cheapest place imo for oem plug n play lambda is here

Could be all sorts of things; Air leaks from mani or the v band join Duff lambda Dodgy Wiring Faulty ECU I think I have a font Lamdba you can borrow to see if that is the issue. If it solves the problem you can pay me for it, if not send it back. It's an OEM Bosch sensor and I'll take £50 if I've still got it.

Thanks for the advice guys! Il dig around The cheap and easy bits and if they don't cure it il leave it be, certainly not going to swap ecu over it!

Make sure if you are testing wiring you unplug the ECU (X31) connector as certain pins don't like to have current passed down them. I had to replace my ECU due to this thumbsdown

Thanks for the ongoing advice! Shame our stupid plastic cars have the hardest access ever to the exhaust manifold side to check for leaks!

I've got this issue with my VXT. I replaced the pre-cat lambda sensor and reset the EML via OP-COM but now 50 miles later it has come back on.

Errors I get are:

P0130 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)  (08) - Not present P0130 - O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 1)  (09) - Present

No leaks in the manifold that I or the garage could find.

Strange one.

Wow this is an old one. Anyway the MAF was fcuked so I replaced it with a new OEM one and it's been fine since. Touch wood.

Surely the pre-cat lambda reading is rather important as it is used for idle and low rev stoemetric...?

My EML is on with P0130 error too but apart from the light being on youd never know any difference ad its running fine I would have thought it woukd be down on power if there were any leaks. It came on whilst stuck in traffic and the engine got hotter than normal only upto 98 degrees so nothing too hot. Dont know if that would have any beating on the matter.

+1 , had this also last year.... a P0130 can be.... Disconnected plug to the sensor Possible corrosion in the sensor connector Damage to the sensor wiring to the ECM Fuel system having poor volume to the engine (i.e. Fuel Pump or other component) Intake vacuum air leaks Loose connections in the air or fuel systems Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF) reading out of range Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP) reading out of range Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) leaks HO2S sensors reading out of range Leaking fuel pressure regulator The ECM is damaged
