November!! I thought we we're doing this ASAP  BB the 15th should be ok for me too (as long as nowt happens between now & then) so should be able to give you a hand with whatever? Maybe make a start on getting the clam off or something? Novembers good for me too so far. Lee.

How are you getting the car to Alex's? There is a guy who goes to the Essex Pistonheads meets who has a business transporting low sports cars/race cars (essentially a big 4x4 with a low trailer). I can step in on tea making duties if it is required (and would be interested in the clam fitting/removal so I know how to do it in future) but don't want to be in the way if there are going to be too many people. :P

Sam, you'll be fine to come along I'm sure. A mate of mine has a trailer and already offered to give Stuwy a lift but if possible he's going to drive it over. If that doesn't work I can always get a lift to him and call RAC. Stuwy and I will try best to get car ready over 15th and 16th Oct - i.e. all the crap bits like clam removal!

If you need someone to: a. Constantly point out what you're doing wrong (from a knowledge vacuum, at that!) b. Pass tools to you. c. Silently pass wind, then quietly slip away, smirking. d. Have a herioc attempt at clam removal (I have a Halfords 150 piece Pro Socket set, you know). e. Drink your tea. f. Block your toilet. Then I am in.thumbsup

SEB, WILL YOU KINDLY STOP THIS SNIPING AT ME. I'M FED UP WITH IT AND IT IS UNWARRANTED.

If and when this poor bloke's car is eventually fixed, I am pretty sure it wont be because of your meagre mechanical skills. All you do is make facile bodywork/interior mods to your car and I doubt very much you'd have any idea how to fix this engine even if we left it with you for a year. It will likely be mended by the other more capable chaps on here who do know what they are talking about. Once you've proved yourself with a decent mechanical project I will start to take you seriously, till then keep your nasty mind and fingers off the keyboard when replying to me.

Partridge, I do appreciate all advice I am given and I thank you all for your help so far :) chinky chinky
I dont know better then the experts and thats why I started this thread in the first place beucae i was getting a lot of steam and i did not know why.

My financial situation is this. I am 23 years old, when i bought the VX i was 22, I have a house, I am getting married next year. I was very lucky, the market and interst rate crash happened exactly when I had some money. I spent 234 pounds on getting the VX serviced (that i save up for) i spent my whole life saving and never spend more then i can afford.

Everybody has problems and Nev i respect you are having problems with your car at the moment, i am in dept to you all and if i can ever help with anything i'll be first on the list.

I would be happy with a 50/50 resalution and gave them that option, they told me No.

Stu...i for one know exactly what you have had to go through with this BS mate...i had to endure the same sort of thing a few months back with a very well known so called "Motorsport" garage...i got it sorted in the end but it cost me dearly...and as said many times on this thread "i feel your pain" and the stress, sleepness nights ect ect...its just a right b@stard when it feels its someone else thats accountable for the f?ck up and theres nothing you can do..

Best of luck with it all...itl be alright.

It's ok, I get by with my meagre mechanical skills just fine. I can't ever remember insulting you however, let alone to the degree you just have to me. Nice to know someone has to prove themself with a 'decent' mechanical project to be taken seriously by you though thumbsup
