SEB, WILL YOU KINDLY STOP THIS SNIPING AT ME. I'M FED UP WITH IT AND IT IS UNWARRANTED.

If and when this poor bloke's car is eventually fixed, I am pretty sure it wont be because of your meagre mechanical skills. All you do is make facile bodywork/interior mods to your car and I doubt very much you'd have any idea how to fix this engine even if we left it with you for a year. It will likely be mended by the other more capable chaps on here who do know what they are talking about. Once you've proved yourself with a decent mechanical project I will start to take you seriously, till then keep your nasty mind and fingers off the keyboard when replying to me.

It's ok, I get by with my meagre mechanical skills just fine. I can't ever remember insulting you however, let alone to the degree you just have to me. Nice to know someone has to prove themself with a 'decent' mechanical project to be taken seriously by you though thumbsup

You two should team up and do a live show.

Great stuff. Thank you.

Even though I am as mechanically capable as a blind man in a dark room, looking for a black cat that isn't even there I would be happy to come to lead a hand/learn something but I am working every weekend in October so no day off for a month - well done everybody!!

I think I'll bow out of this thread, seeing as I am getting slated.

I'm sure the armchair mechanics can get it fixed

In fairness to Seb, he did Supercharge his first VX and he did arrange the two group buys of charger kits to the UK. AFAIK his new project is shaping up as well and I would be very surprised if he didn't charge this one as well.

He also helped out with the gearbox issues I had pre Le Mans and whilst he will not make the McLaren pit crew, he is better than quite a few I have come across whilst working on various VXs.

Had a chance to make a start on Stuweys replacement head last night. Unfortunately all this consisted of was numerous hours in the dip tank followed by a couple of cycles in the hot wash. But at least it's looking a little cleaner now though after some elbow grease!

Tonights job will be to strip it down and give it the once over, and maybe another wash lol

I'm pretty much useless at anything mechanical so am afraid I will be no help whatsoever. I would love to help, but am incapable of doing so. Unless anyone gets a bolt up the nose, I think I will politely and feebly bow out. However as mentioned previously, still very happy to contribute to the Stuwey's Head Initiative Trust (S.H.I.T.).

Last nights progress: stripped the valves & stem seals out and have taken out the old Exhaust studs too. Have given it a quick decoke, another session in the dip tank & hot wash. Then i checked the head over & soap stoned all the gasket mating faces to clean them up.

Slowly getting there Stu. Should have it all back together again & ready to go by Friday i hope!

Face of that head looks a damn site better than when we picked it up! Loved it that Stuwy carried it best part of a mile with his arms out to avoid oil on t-shirt (and failed). Quite looking forward to doing this job now (apart from clam removal and refit). Garage has been given the thumbs up, although will need a hand moving some stuff about before we can get car in there. I also am pretty certain I'll go into work for at least a few hours, so will give you a shout nearer the day with timings.
