Face of that head looks a damn site better than when we picked it up!

Loved it that Stuwy carried it best part of a mile with his arms out to avoid oil on t-shirt (and failed).

Quite looking forward to doing this job now (apart from clam removal and refit).

Garage has been given the thumbs up, although will need a hand moving some stuff about before we can get car in there. I also am pretty certain I'll go into work for at least a few hours, so will give you a shout nearer the day with timings.

it was f*ing heavy. my shoulders killed the next day.

I'll drop you a text chinky chinky

lacking motivation tonight, about halfway though lapping the valves and losing the will to live

was hoping to have it all built up tonight but looks like tomorrow now, will definately be having a :drink: when i get home!

i am really thankful for your help with this. i'm not sure what else i can say.

i blown away with the help and support from everybody :grouphug:

Would've been nice to have had it decked but i just can't sort that at the moment. Also (and it's just me) i'd have loved to get the outer casting cleaner and got rid of the white staining that always happens on these alloy heads. Trouble is that would have meant media blasting it and i didn't have time sorry Stu.

By decked you mean skimmed? Did I read you sanded the face down to make sure flat and remove the few scratches? (way I'm going with this is to check is near standard height and we have no timing faffery to do - like on a 306 Gti-6 head with vernier pulleys you can set to counter head skimming).

yes mate, decked/skimmed (Turbo) Tomato/Tomahto

all i've done to the faces is gone over them with a soap stone, which is kind of a very soft abrasive stone to remove any minor nicks etc. Doesn't appear to have been machined in the past so should be somewhere about standard still.
