Not many places like this - ie to offer the support for it. And you could just accept any gestures of goodwill that I (and anyone else) is willing to give as a wedding gift anyway.

Can we have a whip round to get you motoring again? I'll chip in. It'll only take a fiver each from 10 of us to get you rolling.
there is no way i could accept that, i would just feel terrybad until i have paid you all back..
thanks for the offers for a replacement head (Cliff & Rik) depending on what the garage decide to do depends on what i do about it![]()
Pffft.....
It's a couple of pints as a congrats wedding thing. Think of it that way.

Also Stuwy you're only a few years younger than me but there is no way that I would have been able to afford a VX even a few short years ago. I would have done nearly anything to get my hands on one, but I simply didn't have the money to do it.
I have so much respect that you've managed to make it work, get a VX, get it on the road when I couldn't, and I'm sure it must have taken some serious sacrifices.
To take all that away because some gorilla feels the need to screw your spark plugs through the engine and halfway into the road upsets me to no end.
So honestly, if I can help out I am very happy to do so.
You could of got an NA I'd of thought? Your turbo would of had £4-6k ontop of a stock VX. Maybe you were just living within your means while some.......

If I say I've got two broken headlamps can I expect the same whip-round?

Maybe if you said you had two awful looking seats, you might get somewhere.

Sure, and you'll end up with two torches! We'll even take out the old lamps for you as we're so helpful.

Central Manchester, living in an area with a heavy gang presence, only on street parking etc etc.
A VX on the street wouldn't have lasted 5 mins without being vandalised or stolen.
The cost of a lockup (of which there were none nearby) and insurance in that part of the world meant it was a no go.
Honestly, would have struggled to have even bought the NA, let alone real world considerations. The turbo was a big push and that's a good two three years down the line from starting to seriously look at sports cars.
Also I spent quite a few years at uni, and that costs. Had to pay off/sort out quite a lot before we got into VX financial territory.
I don't think it's an issue of living within your means, it just was impossible for various reasons.
