At the National my inlet temps never went above 36' however hard I pushed the car :)

The Klassen maps start to retard ignition on the VXT maps at either 50 or 55 degrees C (I can't remember which), so you will be fine.

You probably know all this, but for others reading this: Having a bigger turbo like your garret allows one to flow more air but at less boost, so your power gains at the higher RPMs can be achieved with less boost. This in turn means that because you are compressing the charge less, it heats up less and hence you need less charge cooling. For example, with the slightly larger turbo on my car I make 500 BHP with just 20 PSI of boost - this helps me keep charge temps well within tollerance (never seen > 45 degrees on mine).

I was talking to someone about this at lunch. - Though the stock IC is a restriction on flow anyway, however one of those uprated ICs would become a decent option for modest power levels. not that fitting a garrett is usually motivated by modest power levels.

Well I was referring to what Nev said really....but i did mention your compound charge cooling in the same conversation. I had considered running a stock ic inline with my cc, but the stock IC is too restrictive. My porn comment was definately directed at your cooling/tophat arrangement.

Just out of interest :) what's the benefit with your chargecooler and intercooler? As I've heard you can get more of pressure drop using both?I presume yours doesn't?

Aimy, IMO overall (if you are going to drive hard) it's prebably better to have a bit of pressure drop rather than excessive charge temps. The beauty of a turbo is that you can simply tweak the map in 5 minutes to overcome the pressure drop, whereas excessive inlet temps (>50 degrees) is a more serious and more difficult problem to alleviate.

lol, I know of four 400+ BHP VXTs in the country already. Soon they will be more popular than stage 4 ;)

When is the CS mapping session booked for Simon. I am itching to see how it goes. I am almost certain that you'll make your 400 BHP (assuming the engine takes it) :) Where are you upto now, is it close to starting up ?

Massive massive thanks to DG Imnotworthy Imnotworthy Imnotworthy He's been flat out on the car from 8am & dropped me back at 9.30 so he wouldn't have got back home till 10, Thats a long day on the car made longer still by Benji not being well and I know he's full on at work also so many many thanks again DG really don't know how you manage it! thumbsup Car so nearly ready, we both planned for today to finish but as always the simple things aren't! It is however looking very special, definatly something quite unique is really coming together now, we both stood back I think very pleased with whats unfolding  Dave Hardwick is a superstar as well going in on a Sunday to fab up some parts for me, many thanks Dave & very much appreciated thumbsup Dave also showed me some of his ideas's in development and he's defiantly going to be one to watch, his incredible skills matched with his enthusiasm for the VX is going to really going to move everything to another level, :) Got tomorrow & tuesday to finish & CS Wednesday but definatly think DG (and especially Sarah!) will be glad to see the car drive away! :)
