Time to get the multimeter out and check continuity of wires to and from the push button. My car has a random intermittent fault that hasnt reappeared since the national. Ignition on, press the button and it just clicks doesnt crank over. Normally after removing the fuse for the ecu for 20 mins it will start cranking. Does the car make a clicking noise when you push the button?

Awwww :( That's harsh :( Whilst I laughed at it not being ready, I didn't wish this on you! I hope you get it sorted. As with the other suggestions, can you work backwards, from key, through button, through to starter motor etc?

Check where the wires come into the yellow relay. A wire isn't holding in like it should anymore on mine but a light push and it touches enough to turn over. Of course first bump and it's out again :D

DG's tried two yellow relays on the car (and two batteries) with no joy :(

Sorry to hear the bad news and did you take the dash top off at any point of the build?

I suspect you've uspet wires to rear relay on clam removal or refit. Do you have the silly blue connector on turbos?

Think the power to switch the relay comes from the button to pin 5 (brown wire) that goes to the relay. You need to find out if whilst guessing the button your getting 12v to it then trace back. Remove dash and check you have power on the other side of the button etc. Id seriously brim it with juice, bump it and drive to cms. Or at least tootle round the block to make sure everything else is good. Am i right in thinking if it was an imobiliser fault then the fuel pump wouldnt run? Seems a shame to miss your mapping spot, whats the waiting list like?

Sh!t no wonder Duncan hasn't txt me back yet, hope you get it sorted (I'm guessing your still at it for another late one!) small niggly problems are always the worst. Will be worth it when done though, I keep telling myself that and mine will be way down on yours lol

I suspect JG may be right, shoving those wires and relays through the rear clam grommet hole must stress them and I would not be surprised if one of them cracked/split and failed to pass current. Myself and a couple of other regular rear clam removers have moved the entire loom + relays to the bulkhead to alleviate this issue and make clam removal faster and less hassle. All my rear clam relays are now in the cabin (rally style!) for easy access/inspection.

There is a pic of them at the bottom of here.

I'll have a look in the garage, I think I have a complete rear loom. Just check the small earth wire to the ecu is good as you would normally use one of the ecu mounting bolts for the spade connector to make the circuit

Least you can rest for a few days before tackling the problem. I am sorry that you missed your slot :( I hope it gets resolved, and I hope to a certain extent it's not something simple that you'll kick yourself for  Equally, I hope it's a cheap fix!
