Just wanted to know if anyone was running 205 / 55 / R16 on the fronts ?

I really wouldn't. 45 profile tyres are what is recommended for that width.

205/50/16 are the closest to match up for the ABS , again depends from make to make as there can be big differences

I know I was trying to raise the front end of the car over these f'ing Pyramid speed bumps, keep hitting the sodding things..

I do currently, but I wouldn't recommend it. I switched to 16" wheels at the front last year and due to the German TÜV (MOT) regulations regarding the anti-lock system I was forced to chose 205/55-16. The sidewalls really look a bit too big compared to the rears and you lose a bit of steering precision. So for next year I got myself a Lotus 111R anti-lock and will switch to 205/50-16. I personally don't like the 205/45-16 because to me they look a bit small in the wheel arches that were designed for the original 175/55-17.
