I fully intend to not sleep before at least 4am today.

With my work, that will be a certainty! ;)

I hear Propofol is good for insomnia - at least Michael Jackson found it so!

8pm I can't stay awake. 3am I haven't slept yet and I can't sleep. Think what I'll do is go to sleep straight after work and then have my 'evening' from midnight.

Jules touched on this with his post, and it's how I feel about the situation really.... The perceived notion of "Bedtime"
In our hectic and often varying lives/lifestyles, bedtime doesn't really work imo, much the same as meal times to a certain extent.
Sleep when you're tired, eat when you're hungry, your body will let you know what you need, when you need it and how much you'll need.

I do sort of agree, but the problem is when your body is saying stay awake till 3 am and then socity/your job/the people you live with are saying that the day starts at 8 am. My natural rythm is to go to sleep at about 3 and then wake up at 10. But there are not many careers that work that way.

Are you going to bed at half 11-12ish then lying awake till 3? A few weeks of going to bed later and getting up early should condition your body into wanting to sleep much earlier

For me personally, I can condition myself. During term time i go into going to bed at around 11:30 - 12am and then wake up again at 7:30, it is just that as soon as the holidays come I natually have a pattern of 3am-10am and feel i sleep a lot better quality in terms of sleep (althought his may also come down to the fact that during the holidays i am not thinking about work and working 70 hours a week!).
