Hi all! I'm in a bit of a pickle, I've noticed that my passenger side shock is leaking and making an annoying clunking noise and neither of my fronts will adjust easily any more, so ideally need to get them off and serviced (anyone know the warranty on these, I bought them in June '09) it always made a bit of a valving noise but thought nothing of it, but maybe I should've sent it back then! Anyone know: a) how much it costs to get gaz to service these or B) of any shocks that I could borrow while these are off of my car as I need it to commute to work! I'll phone absolutely shocks on Monday and see what they say Thanks in advance!

Another case of Gaz's failing  Can't believe people still consider Gaz a viable alternative to Nitrons. Yeah Gaz have great customer care and can turn the defective parts around with minimal disruption but wouldn't people prefer to NEVER have to send the products back....? You pay a premium for quality but it pays in the long run imo let the fireworks commence

ROFL. So many valid arguements above, everyone seems to be correct on this matter ! At least it's nice and easy to take all 4 coilovers out and re-install them. Haven't seen you for approx 2.5 years Mike - we should meet up one day. I can drive to work (in Trowbidge) with Nipper and come over and see you. PM me your mobile if you like :)

Wow, this topic obviously took the scenic route! I glad I also found out the turbos are the best and that either charge coolers or intercoolers are the best and therefore everything else in the world is rubbish! Thanks Cliffie, I just need to find either somewhere to leave my car on axle stands while they're off as I could probably steal a lift to work for a week or so; or something to go in their place as driving with no suspension probably wont be too good for the wishbones! Nev, indeed it has been ages, alot has changed since then, I've had to move the massive distance to Chippenham for my new job in Malmesbury throwing about top secret vacuum cleaners and the such! But yeah I would love a pax ride in Nipper I don't mind popping over to Brizzle for a treat like that!

No Offense to Clifffffffieee, but I'd get in direct contact with GAZ (maybe with Clifffffies help) and get the shocks sent straight there, rather than shipping to two different places and taking longer than need be. imho of course :)

It could be down to popularity. 500 sets of gaz golds sold 5% failed is 25 sets sent back. 20 sets of obscenely expensive nitrons sold 5% failure would be just 1 set. No ones going to shout about just one set. I'd love a set of nitrons but the price when compared to Gaz's is just too much.

Welcome to of course. There is a two year warrantee on the units so as long as they are not older (or abused) they will rebuild for free.

I was just offering a service that would cost me TBH but as I sell Gaz on here I feel I should offer. I didn't sell this set BTW. As this set is over two years old I thought I could possibly save him a rebuild cost with my relationship with Gaz.

I think you're trying to mitigate the situation. You honestly think the amount of cars on Gaz outnumber Nitron by 25:1 ....? Pull the other one will you, that's utter rubbish! Just because we're pikeys on here doesn't mean Nitron do not shift SHEDLOADS of their VX/Lotus shocks.

Nitron have been making this particular shock for over a decade. Gaz are new to the VX/Lotus market and I'm afraid it SHOWS! I'm not slagging them as a company as they make some decent products but the R&D Nitron have developed over the years has resulted in Nitron offering a far better engineered product which has NO reliability issues. I'm afraid Gaz have yet to achieve the same.

Buy cheap, buy twice.

I may well take you up on the offer if nothing more local comes up before the weekend, may have to visit my brother in Hereford and drop in on the way there or the return leg, I'll PM you later in the week and see if I can pick them up this weekend?

Thanks All!

How many sets of Gaz have I sold in the last 18 months and how many sets have I had issues with.

How many sets of Nitron over the same period.

If the stats are unknown then we can't comment, if the stats are known, post em up.
