long day,i am really glad umar showed up as we were a good 2 secs clear or the others and to take a win when the others havent showed up would be wrong,in my eyes to get close to the fellow that was a clear mile ahead at cadwell is a good result

i am annoyed with myself as i know what i was doing wrong, but me and george agreed after monday a 138 would be good,so in whole i am well happy

A very long day. Left home at 04:15 and got home at 22:45 but it was all worth it!

Went out for practice and didn't manage to set a time as the map sensor blew out from the pipework on the out lap. Darron managed to limp the car back in to the pits. Theres only a few garages at cadwell so we didn't have one and most of our kit was at the bottom of the paddock. IpPushed the car back to the van where Darron immediately jumped out and wanted to get it sorted. After i coughed my guts up and managed to stop breathing quite so heavily (its hard work pushing a car that far on your own) i told him to chill his beans as we wouldn't get it sorted in time to go back out for the rest of practice. This was great to see him with fire in his belly and really wanting to get back out there as he's normally so laid back. I certainly haven't ever seen him like that.

Car sorted for warm up and we went out and set a low 138 lap if i remember properly. Darron wasn't happy with the car, he felt like the tyres were past there best and weren't giving quite the same level of grip as they were the monday before. He was also still getting use to the pads and locking up a lot as we had changed front and rears on the day before so they hadn't covered any miles.

For qualifying we were wanted to change something to try and find us some time but were nervous because points were on the table so didn't want to make the car worst. We removed the rear wing as its only one of the exige ones that flexes so just felt like it was drag that we weren't seeing the benefits of in the corners. After speaking to team Cliffie and found out what pressures Mike was running we dropped 2.5psi out of every tyre. Again we set a 138 lap time which before the day we would of been happy with. This time Darron complained that under breaking the car was a lot less stable and the drop in tyre pressure hadn't helped the tyres find grip. Umar had struggled with a miss fire all morning and set a 142 in qualifying so we took maximum points for qualifying :)

The wing went back on for the final. Our starting time was delayed because of some big crashes in the race before. We were all lined up for 25mins waiting so decided to go over for a chat to Umar. He played it down saying he was only coming out to set a time to claim points still and wouldn't be troubling anyone as he didn't want to risk his new engine. We fell for this hook line and sinker! We wanted to do a banker so decided that when we dipped under a 138.5 then i would give a signal on the pit wall and Darron could try and brake later into the bends and really push on as we felt that would be enough and it wouldn't matter if he threw the car off the circuit. Darron set the time in the first couple of laps so he knew that he could then push, all day he new he was breaking too early into a couple of corners and this was a chance now to go all out. He set a 1:37.087 next time round and on the pit wall we were so happy for all of a few seconds when Deano from cliffies team came out of the garage to tell us that Umar had gone faster by less than 2 tenths. We have no pit board or in car coms so next time Darron came round me and Chrisuk were hanging off the wall trying to signal to Darron that he was in second and needed to pull his finger out. This didn't happen and Umar improved his lap time and set a staggering 1:35.967  Imnotworthy .

We were so happy to take second spot and pleased Umar got his car sorted (ill never believe a word the fecker says to me ever again though). Really pleased with a 137 dead lap time. Darron felt the car had more to give but its all good in theory and not so easy in practice. Umar will have a big power increase for snetteron and im sure Ronnie will be back and faster than ever. We have some odds and sods to do but nothing thats going to dramatically increase our performance. The best thing we can do is try and find time to do a trackday at snetterton as Darron hasn't driven it yet and we proved at croft that the more time you spend out on track the better as we seemed to get quicker each time or at least know what we were doing wrong.

Anyone in a stage 4 turbo have a time for snetterton so we have something to aim for?

So happy with second and well done to team Cliffie for winning and beating the s2k hope you dont get bumped up as that seems unfair.

Excellent, glad you have some success after your recent woes. On another note, I went to the TA site, clicked on their link to see the "live SMART timings" and it shows nothing - bloody amateur website.

Clicking on 2 of their links (which both point to http://www.smart-timing.co.uk/) fails to show any results. The one thing that people want to see and they manage to fail to successfully show it. Rank amateurs, stuff like that really puts me off. :angry2:

Ha ha, quality!! Too late to offer advice now, but NEVER listen to Umar!! His sandbagging skills are legendary; he always finds something in the final!

Great job by Darron and George and a great result after all the effort and heartache.

As Jimmy says, never, ever play poker with Umar, he has been sandbagging for the past two seasons and he was moaning to me about having no boost until I reminded him I was no longer in his class.

You guys should be pleased as punch with yesterdays result.

Ha ha, Sounds about right!!  I love his tactics, even changing exhausts for the final so he doesn't get busted for noise throughout the day then it's ear plugs time in the final  BWAAAAAAAAARP!
